He actually looked rejuvenated for a while when playing for the Celtics unfortunately he got injured. Why did LeBron fail with a younger Shaq AND Ben Wallace?

And LeBron destroyed them in 2011

Garnett
Rondo
Allen
Pierce
Shaq

That's basically 5 all stars and the GOAT dismantled them like it was nothing :bowdown:

He looked like shit. He had an injury that kept him playing limited minutes. He even told Ainge not to trade Perk.

if they had perkins in game 7 they mightve won with that whole game being such a brickfest and rebounds being so important.

You'd have to think if Perkins plays he makes up enough of a difference to change the outcome what ended up being a 4 point game, especially with how that game specifically unfolded

Not really. Sheed had a good game as a starter in Game 7. Glen Davis wasn't that bad either. Those two had the best net ratings on the team. Series wouldn't have even been close had Bynum been healthy that season.

They made the "GOAT" flee to Miami with his tail between his legs faking an injury. He only went over them because of age and health. The 2008 Celtics would have beaten him in 2011 with his handpicked team yet again.

He nearly beat the '08 Celtics with a significantly worse team

They were a few points from winning the title.

The 09 Celtics were a healthy Garnett away from winning the title again. They could've 3-peated if luck was on their side.

Or they could have lost in '08 in the EC series that went 7 games or in the Finals had the Lakers been healthy.

He took the near 70 win Celtics to a grueling 7 games with a homeless bum as his partner in crime.

So he didn't need Wade to beat them, all he needed was a sidekick better than Delonte West

Bynum was NEVER healthy so stop bringing him up as an excuse. The 09 Celtics were better than the 08 team before Garnett went down and he was always a healthy player throughout his career before then. That's actually worth being brought up.

The '09 Lakers team was much better than the '08 one as well. Why can't I make the argument that the Lakers could have 3-Peated had Bynum and Ariza been healthy in '08? Bynum played a full 82-game season in '07. That was a freak injury.

still can't believe Hawks and Cavs were able to take prime Big 3 Boston to the final seconds of game 7 and Kobe got pinched in a quick 6 in 40 point elimination blowouts

You do realize that he formed the trio in the heat with wade and bosh the next season after getting his ass and his team kicked out in the 2010 ecsf, despite their hca, right?

Too many things went wrong for the Celtics that year.

- KG wasn't full strength, and never would be again, but he was better the following couple of years
- Ray Allen hurt his knee in game 2 and shot like shit the rest of the finals, until game 7
- Perk getting hurt didn't help, but its overstated. Rivers screwed up the rotation in game 7, playing 'Sheed too many minutes. Should have started Scalabrine to keep it intact; he can give something, not much less than Perk
- They played flat 2 games, games 3 and 6. That cant happen in the finals. The let freaking Derek Fisher beat them in game 3.

He didn't "join forces" Wade begged for LeBron to join him because Wade couldn't get past the first round by himself, same with Bosh

The only problem was he wasn't built for lots of minutes that late in his career. Forcing him to start took away what he could've given us off the bench and could've ended up making it a different outcome.

Just for the record, is this thread about the 2010 Celtics losing to the Lakers in the Finals? Or the 2011 Celtics with Shaq the lost to the Heat in the 2nd round?

The 08 Celtics are such a confusing team.

How did they get taken to 7 games by the 08 Cavs when Lebron had his worse series ever against them? He had like 23/7/7 on 32% (25% from 3) through the first 6 games. Yet the 08 Celtics managed to beat the 08 Lakers in only 6 games?

Why did Jordan fail with a prime Pippen?

37 year old Shaq was terrible for Cleveland's offense. Spacing problem. The Cavs were 8 points better without him on the floor.

Because Allen & Pierce were mostly sub-par in those series.

Allen vs Cavs - 9.3 ppg 32.8%FG 16.7% 3PT :biggums::biggums: shoots lights out in the Finals
Pierce was great in Game 7 with the 40-piece but only averaged 19.4 ppg on 40.4%FG/33.3%3PT

They really should have lost that Cavs series in 6. Fortunately for them, Lebron goes 2/18 with 10 TOs in a 4-point loss in Game 1. Cavs should have been up 3 - 1 in that series had Lebron done better.

Lakers were just a better match-up for them as well. We were down a Center and our best 3&D guy. We did choke away a game but I doubt we would have won regardless.

We almost had one of the biggest comebacks in Finals history in Game 2 of that series, Lakers were down 22 points at the start of the 4th and came back all the way to within 2 points with 38 seconds to go. Of course the refs give a weak ass foul for Pierce to ice the game at the line..

Would’ve been pretty awesome to see Shaq go up against the Lakers as a Celtic. Yea he was a role player at that point but he would’ve been incredibly motivated to have some great games.
