View Full Version : If we cant prevent athletes from committing crimes, how do we prevent police...?

Hi all. Fultznation rise here.

You know, weve got some pretty high strung, narrow minded peeps here. Bladefd, MillerTime, and hitleRRR3 to name a few. And I know theyre licking their chops at the chance to purposely twist my words to deflect the conversation.

But what I am asking is not “is it equally important for athletes and police officers to obey the law?”

100% of people will agree it would be more ideal and reassuring to know police always obey the law.

But the question is, if we cannot prevent every athlete - most of whom have MILLIONS OF DOLLARS on the line - from making bad decisions and running afoul of the law... how do we expect “reforms” to have such a blanket impact among tens of thousands of police officers making 70k plus benefits?

On the athletic field, fights often break out. Tension is high, testosterone is high, adrenaline is high. If players had guns holstered on their hip during games, the whole league would be dead in a week. This is a natural byproduct of this combination of human nature and circumstance.

We ask cops to work in high stress, high crime areas, and engage all day long with suspects who have mental health issues, are under drug psychosis, have been reported for violence/erratic behavior, and sometimes carry unlicensed weapons.

Consider also that you arent gonna higher granny mabel, or steve urkel for police work. Just like you wouldnt put them on a football field. Most cops are adult males who have the necessary testosterone to be willing to work in such environments in the first place. If, with constant league conduct policy reforms, and million dollar contracts on the line, we cant stop athletes from fighting ON the field and committing domestic violence, robbery, assault etc OFF the field...

How do we magically end all police abuse?
People badly, badly want to believe there is a cure-all for this. And theyre now going full angsty-neurotic-soyboy public meltdown until everyone consoles them by agreeing to their tantrums of idealism.
But we never ever have deeper discussions about the human nature involved in these issues, where we admit it’s not so simple as “make republicans do it our way and itll just be perfect you RACISTS!!!!!!!”

It’s very hard for intelligent people to have conversations with dumb people, for reasons that are obvious but still may be worth reviewing another time.

But the overall point is, human nature changes very, very slowly. Weve evolved some since the days of Sparta, but thats because weve LITERALLY evolved over those few thousand years. We’re not gonna suddenly evolve anthropologically into a zero-conflict society next week. But that seems to be the outcome mant SJWs are picketing for.

Anyway, crickets and/or “orange man racist” chants incoming. Nevertheless...

Your thoughts?

Also, Im not suggesting we just nonchalantly shrug off police violence. Of course it should be condemned and disciplined to whatever degree applicable.

But this constant cycle of brutality and riots, brutality and riots... it never gets resolved, and it seems like people dont want to admit there are no EASY solutions. Weve had these riots for decades, if there was some solution that worked it would have surely been implemented by now.

We tend to just wait for the most recent uproar to fizzle, and wait for the next one to percolate, without ever admitting to ourselves that all the picketing and looting and tweeting from the last one didnt actually produce any conclusions.

People seem avoidant of admitting they havent come up with any legitimate answers.

To don the badge, is to assume a greater level of responsibility -- you are held to a higher standard.

Professional athletes are not public servants.

Those are your ideals.

They arent human nature.

You can wax and demand and demonstrate and riot and loot and whatever you want.

But history suggests it isnt preventing the next tragedy.

Those are your ideals.

They arent human nature.

They are society's standards, based upon ethics.

We can’t stop it. Cops are humans and they always will be. Robot police would be called racist and decommissioned immediately. That doesn’t mean cops get a pass for their wrongdoings... they don’t.

And the frequency at which unarmed black men are killed by police is so low that it’s statistically irrelevant when determining if there’s a massive systemic problem with such behavior... there isn’t.

Everyone’s retarded... and don’t expect any thoughtful response to this thread by the brain dead leftists on this board.

The End.
