He averaged 23/5/5 this season for the San Antonio Spurs. Do you think he's going to be a good fit for the New York Knicks??

Sure why the hell not? Couldn't get any worse.

DeRozen could be a veteran leading the Knicks.

He's good enough to promote as a star but not good enough to make a real difference. Dolan accomplishes the goal of saying "see guys? We're trying!"

Would do him no good. He'd better on a very good team (preferably a star PG) where he can get his as a scorer without demanding the team play around. OKC right now, specifically because of Chris Paul, is an example. The Celtics another, tho they obviously don't need DeRozan because of what they do have.

Tho if they wanted to make a trade and give up some of those guys for some kind of star, then that'd be different.

This is a very Knicks thing to do.

He’s a good player that would do a number of teams good. That he’s a laughingstock is just due to overexaggeration of his flaws, likely due to his poor playoff performance. As long as you take care of your outside shooting elsewhere, he’s a great player. Unfortunately, the Knicks don’t have that outside shooting yet.

Lol no thanks. He's not the star power they are searching for... but at this point he might be better than spinmove into traffic Randle.

He is kind of a weird laughing stock isn’t he?

Demar has legit won more than a lot of the hall of fame.

Nique had less playoff success than Demar. Granted....in a stronger conference. But Gervin didn’t do anything Demar didn’t do either. Neither did a number of HOF types. Pistol Pete would have killed to have his success.

7-8 years of all star or borderline all star play and leading multiple top seeds that turned out to be pretenders?

Thats....kind of a lot.

Well for one Lowry was always the leader and best player on those teams. Secondly, Gervin and Nique didn’t play like shit every time the playoffs rolled around.

Edit: Nique actually didn’t set the world on fire in the playoffs and had a drop off compared to his regular season numbers. Gervin was pretty consistently great in the playoffs though.

I'm a Spurs fan and if I lived in San Antonio I'd drive him to the airport. He'd be the perfect Knick, highly paid high scoring player over 30 who doesn't play defence. He was born to play for the Knicks.

If you had to go look up their numbers their playoff performances obviously weren’t something that made an impact on history.

Demar is like a lot of guys in the hall or just shy. He’s had a pretty great career. Just a victim of the mentality that everyone not elite is a joke.

Same career in the 70s he’s introduced as an nba legend and you would have no idea what he did in the 78 playoffs because nobody would care.

That’s fair but you’re not taking DeMar over Nique let alone George Gervin (one of the best scorers of all time) in any era are you? I’m pretty low on DeMar overall tbh.

I wouldn’t take Dave Bing over Nique either. But he was top 50 and Nique wasn’t. In fact he was voted most overrated player in the nba by the other players twice and least interested in defense once. All sports illustrated player polls.

History writes the story and we all accept it because looking into it takes a minute. Demar is gonna have a bad story written while not really doing any worse than some guys we call legends. Guys played whole career and won like 2 playoff series with their lack of success not even being in the narrative. Vince Carter won maybe 4 playoff series in 20 years.

Nobody even cares. Not that I care either for the record.

It would take a big trade for him to not be redundant in Boston. They've figured out a way to make Hayward Brown and Tatum work but if you round that out with Walker and DeRozan you will never get a rebound again. Also they would have to create cap space. Only way DeRozan becomes a Celtic this offseason is if his agent calls up Ainge and says he'll sign for the minimum and play sixth man.

Pretty much agree. But if you traded two of Hayward, Tatum and Brown a huge star (Anthony Davis is just an example), then I could see DeRozan being useful there...offensively anyway.

Definitely wouldn't be as ridiculous as coming to New York...Awful.

i always felt bad for derozan in the playoffs when pat patterson demmare carrol and lowry would go ice cold from 3 and derozan would basically get doubled all game long.

if he had last years version of the raptors who went nuts from 3, his play wouldve looked a lot better.

The only guys that you trade Tatum and Brown for are guys that teams would never trade to you. Also AD isn't a Celtic today largely because his people let it be known he'd play one season and then leave. He's determined to play with James.

Of course they are, typical Knicks type transaction, give him a long term max deal too. Maybe it will draw Zion when he becomes a FA
