It's Allen Iverson's birthday today. Born June 7, 1975. The Answer is now 45 years old.

What did you like most about Iverson? As a player, a personality. A culture leader.

i was watching the '03 all star game and iverson's speed is totally ridiculous.

he would just blink up the court faster than everybody when he wanted. is he the fastest player of all time?

I would say arguably the BEST BLEND of dominant scoring ability and speed ever in the league. AI was also one of the top 10 legends in terms of IT FACTOR or superstar appeal: (no particular order once Stern's new age starting taking shape)

MJ
Magic
Bird
Bron
Shaq
Doc
Mamba
AI
Kareem
Barkley

AI was one of the VERY RARE legends who was a superstar on and off the court! And when u look at this era of smaller score first PG's, AI's was LIKELY THE LEGEND most responsible for that mindset. Even though AI moved to the SG, he still had the handles and passing ability to be a great PG. He was just a SCORE FIRST type of guard. So Larry Brown moved him to the 2. In this era, guys with AI's mindset stayed at the PG. And we all know AI swag wise had a huge influence on the league as well. So basically he checks ALL THE BOXES when it comes to being an influential icon!
