LeBron's per game averages:

17.8 points on 15 field goal attempts
7.2 rebounds
6.8 assists to 4 turnovers
1.7 steals
0.5 blocks
Kobe's per game averages:

22.6 points on 22.6 field goal attempts
2.8 rebounds
4.4 assists to 3.6 turnovers
1.8 steals
0.6 blocks
To me, on paper Kobe's stats look worse, but I didn't watch the 2004 finals so and can't speak to the eye test, defense, etc. I did watch 2011 though and remember LeBron looking like ass, which was made exponentially worse with the decision still fresh in everyone's minds.

On record Billups and other Pistons players said the game plan was to play Shaq straight up and not double. Then focus more on Kobe because they knew Kobe would force more shots up regardless if he was being doubled or Shaq was getting easy points. And it worked, instead of feeding Shaq who shot 63% from the field in the series and was getting played by Ben Wallace straight up, Kobe was determined to do his thing and it cost them severely.

Kobe was 17% from 3s in the series (4-23).

He shot 38% from the field (43-113)

Shaq shot 63% from the field (53-84). Shaq took 30 less shots than Kobe but still made 10 more than him.

Can't go wrong with either choice. Both guys had their weaknesses thoroughly exposed while their star teammates were able to produce at an elite level.

If I had to choose, I'd say Bran's was slightly worse because at least Kobe had a memorable moment of sending game 2 to OT with a game-tying 3. Bran's most memorable moment from the 2011 finals is the ESPN graphic of him getting dumpstered in the 4th by old man Dirk.

Brick stans jammed on this one

On one hand Kobe shot them out of the Finals in 2004

On the other hand Kobe got swept in 2011 himself

Pick your poison

Kobe was actually productive in crunch time, Lebron was the sole reason his team lost despite having a 2 - 1 lead.

Exactly

And let's face it, the 04' Pistons are WAY tougher than the Mavs

2011 Finals. LeBron had a massive MELTDOWN.

2004 was worse because Kobe is jealous of Shaq and kept trying to outdo him. LeBron was just passive trying to fit in but we all know he's better then Wade.

After 2002, Kobe was tired of being a sidekick and started acting stupid. Look at the 2003 series when Shaq outplays Duncan offensively but Kobe had to ruin everything by attempting like 70 more shots over Shaq for the series. Kobe was a 23PPG 4BPM type player during 3peat and everything was great, once he started pretending he was better then Shaq he ruined the entire dynasty.

Kobe's was far worse.

He produced less offense per game at much lower shooting percentages (.381 FG%, .174 3P%), his assist to turnover ratio was basically 1:1, he only averaged 2.8 rebounds per game, and he had a lower gamescore average.

Bean was less productive and less efficient.

LeBron actually put up a triple double in his finals in 2011, which Kobe (and Jordan) has never done in 13 combined finals runs.

Sadly, both teams had the hca but while the lakers are heavily favored over the pistons despite having a washed-up malone and payton playing in more than 13 seasons already, the heat had three fresher athletes but still came up short against an aging mavs team. Fans blame the coach for his management.
