11 chips in 13 years. When you dip deeper, the case is only heightened. Russell never had an individual teammate as good as Shaq or Pippen or Wade, and he was the one to take down the original super team big three in Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor.

Really weird that you feel better about LeBron if Russell is better than Jordan.

Then Lebron's definitely not the GOAT and that literally pushes him out of the top 5 and maybe even the top 10

How so? LeBron is consensus top 2. That moves MJ to the 3 spot

Nope.
MJ, Kareem, Wilt, and now Russell would be ahead of him. After that you have to take into account Shaq, Kobe, Magic and Bird, as well as Tim Duncan.

MJ has always held this stance on the GOAT debate and is very ring centric. That's why he also said that he thinks Kobe is better than Lebron because Kobe has more rings.
Of course, he's wrong on that but that's just his take on it because MJ was obsessed with winning and rings are what most define a successful player.

It’s hard to argue because it is literally the pinnacle achievement in basketball

Who should we believe, MJ himself or some overweight recluse that pretends to be a Celtics fan?

The 1960 Boston Celtics had seven Hall of Famers on it.
Russell, Cousy, Heinsohn, Ramsey, Sharman, Jones, Jones
The 1963 Boston Celtics had eight Hall of Famers on it.
Russell, Cousy, Heinsohn, Ramsey, Havlicek, Jones, Jones, Lovellette
By 1965 the Celtics still had five of those guys.
Russell, Heinsohn, Havlicek, Jones, Jones
So... talk about super teams.
LeBron matched a feat of those Celtics teams (8 consecutive championship appearances) mostly with only one or two other Hall of Fame teammates. You will never see another player to do that again in your lifetime, in any sport.

They were hall of gamers after he dragged them through all those finals
One of the first players in the league to win more than 8 rings

You are the one to talk. No self-respecting Celtics fan worships James.

Looking at # of HOFers is misleading. Ramsey and KC Jones had no business being HOF players. They just weren't that caliber and nobody would know who they are if they didn't play on the Celtics. Heinsohn was a good player but nothing special. Lovellette was washed up by the time he was in Boston. The only 3 legit HOFers that Russell played with are Cousy, Havlicek and Sam Jones and Cousy and Havlicek's primes never overlapped. I think he played with both of them for 1 year only when rookie Hondo joined the Celtics.
Russell had really good teams but Hawks, Lakers, Warriors, and 76ers were pretty close to them if not higher in talent in many years. In the early 60's, the talent gap was probably the biggest in the Celtics' favour.

Just need to hear from Kareem. If he agrees with Jordan, then this whole discussion is settled.
