What if jersey sponsors also paid for the rights to rename the team/mascot? There’s some creative new team name opportunities to be had by having them relate to the company’s services provided or interests. This’ll probably bomb, but hopefully it’ll lead to some amusement or general absurdity. Some are more challenging than others, i.e. the Kings. Here’s the master list:

Los Angeles Clippers - Bumble Mobile Dating App

Miami Heat - Ultimate Software

Los Angeles Lakers - Wish Mobile Shopping App (ContextLogic)

New York Knicks - Squarespace

Atlanta Hawks - Sharecare

Charlotte Hornets - LendingTree

New Orleans Pelicans - Zatarain’s

Golden State Warriors - Rakuten

Denver Nuggets - Western Union

Detroit Pistons - Flagstar Bank

Sacramento Kings - Blue Diamond Almonds

Minnesota Timberwolves - Fitbit

Milwaukee Bucks - Harley Davidson

Toronto Raptors - Sun Life

Utah Jazz - SAP Qualtrics/5 for the Fight cancer charity by SAP Qualtrics

Orlando Magic - Disney

Boston Celtics - General Electric (GE)

Brooklyn Nets - Infor

Cleveland Cavaliers - Goodyear Tire

Philadelphia 76ers - StubHub

Chicago Bulls - Zenni Optical

San Antonio Spurs - Frost Bank

Houston Rockets - Rokit Phones

Phoenix Suns - PayPal

Memphis Grizzlies - FedEx

Indiana Pacers - Motorola (as of December 18, 2018)

Oklahoma City Thunder - Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores (as of March 15, 2019)

Portland Trail Blazers - Biofreeze

Dallas Mavericks - Chime Mobile Banking App (previously 5miles) - as of 1/17/2020

Washington Wizards - Geico

I’ll offer up for Memphis the Fed Ex Logistics. I like the idea of being a (singular) Logistic. The Logistics has a nice ring to it. Has kind of an ABA vibe.

Lakers should get CCP sponsorship.
