Will check it out. It's funny you mention AK47's cause the Union Army had around 12 Gatling Guns in circulation during the War. That definitely helped them mow Rebel soldiers down. It's true, the North virtually choked the South out of supplies, food, ammo, etc.

People always see some grand conspiracy with the media in terms of... some world agenda by the ultra rich...

I don't see that. I won't discount it, but I think that's too conspiratorial. Because all of the networks share similar characteristics. There's got to be a simpler explanation...

I see a media that is ratings driven for profit. When a company is ratings driven for profit and it's a national company and the people that founded the company with certain ideals are no longer part of said company because they died or retired or whatever... morals start to erode and go out the window over time and it all becomes about the money. This is true of most American corporations.

Basically... ratings = advertisers = money. It's that simple.

And what draws ratings like inflammatory race baiting? Pretty much nothing. Everyone ends up getting upset and they can't look away because people are tribal morons. I mean the average IQ like 98, right? When you realize how incredibly low that is... lol...

It is in the best interest of the news media for people to be racially divided because it gives them money. It's in the best interest of the news media for people to be divided period, you don't even really have to get into the race aspect. It's in their best interest for you to be either angry or fearful or something else that drums up your emotions and keeps you watching.

I've been mulling over ideas to try to fix our news media and so far the only ideas I have are... enact legislation that makes all media companies not for profit and legally unable to be profit seeking... and for big bold letters saying "THIS IS AN OPINION SEGMENT... IT IS NOT FACTUAL" every time they deviate from anything that isn't objective fact based reporting.

Even still, these are not without problems.

Basically, until society evolves enough to the point that their brains are smart enough to ignore the media, we will see this continued pattern of the media being bad actors, imo. There are friends of mine that have IQs in the 120s and they still can't emotionally overcome the ceaseless baiting and irrationality. So that should give you some idea on how far off we really are from moving past this. Unless some solution that doesn't require people being smarter comes along... well, we will easily go to our graves with this same bullshit continuing.

And here's the other thing... even if everyone in the media is reporting completely factual information and leaving their opinions out of it entirely... they still pick and choose what they report. And so... you realize it becomes incredibly easy for them to push narratives simply by reporting what they want to report and by choosing the frequency they report it.

I've said it a dozen times and I'll say it again.

If the national news media wanted to get people to believe that it was unsafe to step outside of their homes because they could be struck by lightning, they could easily do it. All it would take is reporting every single lightning strike... especially every single lightning fatality. Something like 50 people die a year from lightning strikes in the United States alone... something like 2,000 to 6,000 people die from lightning strikes each year. All it would take is capturing the footage from a couple of different incidents, interviewing victims' families, and reporting every time it happens at all. It wouldn't be quite as easy as the race baiting via police because police incidents tend to span minutes and lightning strikes are the briefest of moments, but they could do it.
