They announced all the Top 100 ps4 titles are cleared to run on ps5 at launch, i'm guessing it's probably a licensing issues with devs rather than hardware architect.

I like the design, but am not crazy about all the white. I wonder how loud that dual fan is gonna be. And how much dust it's gonna draw. I'm guessing this will be the last system generation that releases with a disc drive at all. Otherwise they really didn't show much else we hadn't already seen or knew about. I'm guessing much like the PS4 the first game I'll buy will be a remaster of a game I bought just a few months before for the last generation ... TLOU 2.

Oh ... and I like it better sitting flat, especially the one with the disc. It looks less like a modem. And the disc one doesn't look so un-symmetrical.

Looks are an opinion. I respect that. The specs are better no doubt, but that doesn't always translate into better performance. As we saw with the last gen...that didn't matter. What will matter in the end as long as the performance from both consoles are satisfactory is the exclusive titles the platforms get. Which is why it's estimated that PS4 since the 2013 release has solid roughly double of the the Xbox One has solid.

Hell, even the Nintendo Switch has sold more than the Xbox has as of today since it's release.

There's a guy on YouTube that I watch called TronicsFix. Basically all he does is fix mostly game consoles. He just bought a pallet of PS4s that were "salvaged". So he assumed they were all broken. It ended up being 22 PS4s (15 originals, 3 Pros, 4 Slims) for roughly $2200. He was able to get 21 of them fully working and the 22nd one can be fixed, but he has to order a new APU for it.

GTA games are incredible. The details, story lines (minor and major) are off the charts. It's the online has ruined a lot and gets too much focus unfortunately. It's become a cash cow and Rockstar don't care in any way, shape or form that they've become money oriented. GTA IV was a great game, and then you'd get basically another game with the BoGT and LaD DLC. Michael, Trevor and Franklin haven't done shit since 2013.

3/4's of all my PS4 games are digital because I bought them dirt cheap on sale

No doubt, but that would take way more time and money. The gap between RDR1 and RDR2 was 7 years. RDR2 just got released not even 2 years ago. And you know they're working on GTA6 right now. There's no way in hell we get a RDR3 in the next probably 5 years if not longer with the lack of resources they'd have to push towards it. On the other hand there's many people wanting a RDR1 remaster. Including me. I'd love a remake or remaster in the current RDR2 engine and for them to retell the story. Some big discrepancies in RDR1 is John never talks about Arthur because they never made the character up until after the first game was released. So if you go back and play the first game it doesn't feel complete or as immersive because Arthur is never mentioned one time even though he was the most important character in John's story on separating from the Vander lin Gang.

Sony and Microsoft lose money on console sales (-$60 per PS4), they make it back on games and accessories.

PS5 has a 8 core AMD Zen-2, identical to Ryzen 7 3700x which alone is a $300 chip. And a RDNA 2.0 that isn't even available on the PC market yet.

If you PC part picked it's specs it would run over $650-$750 right now. Sony/MS obv get a price cut buying 50+ million in bulk.

Compared to the meh CPU that was outdated in the PS4 on release, PS5 has impressive horsepower in terms of straight-up-system-on-a-chip. I'm a PC nut and it's definitely a beast in terms of modern tech

Even in 1993, SNES cost $250-300 - games $50-$60. It's been a flat rate despite 30yr inflation.

I never played Elder Scrolls series until Skyrim and I loved Skyrim. For whatever reason, Playstation seems to offer fewer mods, especially Skyrim, and I never understood that. I definitely don't like Gates and Microsoft, but I like Skyrim and I was just giving people sh*t. No worries, I don't care if people prefer one system over the other. I saw some of the progs in this thread and was messing around. Both systems are cool. But if I'm being serious, I loved Skyrim and PS offers way fewer mods than Xbox, so that alone would make me choose Xbox over PS. I wouldn't pay for a mod unless it's super cheap like 99 cents and I really wanted it, but even then I've never paid for mods. The only mods that would actually be worth money are if they created new areas and quests/levels. Which on Skyrim, people do that for free. I hate micro-transactions and games that release add-ons later intentionally just to milk you out of another 40-60 dollars. If they genuinely created something new to add on that they didn't originally plan, that's fine. But a lot of games now already know they want it as part of the game and intentionally leave it out so they can sell you it later. We can probably thank EA/The Sims for this tactic... here are 20 f'ing expansions. Sims 12... could have put pets directly in the game, but then they can't sell you the pet expansion. Freakin' micro-transactions.
