There is a thing called the fool theory it's when people buy something only because they expect someone to buy it from them at a higher price. If you accept the coins today, they may be worth 10% less when you sell them tomorrow. Currency needs to be a fairly linear, predictable thing that retains similar values over months or years. As long as bitcoin remains seen as stock and not a store of value/currency it will move like stock or like gold. Why do people buy and hold it? Because they believe it will go up in value. Just like gold. People don’t buy it to use at the convenience store to buy goods. I don’t know how this changes. Maybe it never does. To invest in bitcoin you need a company that is doing bitcoin trading through innovative and marketable strategies like this (https://tradingbot-solutions.com/) that I have been using and that will hopefully turn a profit from it down the road.

Bitcoin and a credit card or paper bill are pretty much identical.
They have value because we all agree that they have value.

Agreed. Anything can be of value if we decide it to be. This also includes cards.

Nobody has a crystal ball. For every dogecoin-like crypto that takes off (temporarily or otherwise) there are 100 failed cryptos and for every 'dogecoin millionaire' there are 1 million dogecoin net losers.

But if you just do it for fun and treat it like what it is - gambling - I guess that's as fair of a pass-time as any.

I was in some old crypto threads years ago. I wish I could find them. I remember telling people to buy Cardano. It was like 5 sents. Got down to 2.4 cents. Now we're at 2.15

I'm up 100x on my money.

It's just a bubble waiting to pop - when are you going to pull out? It isn't actually worth anything

You're crazy. Smart contracts in August plus government adoption means nothing to you? Why are you so threatened by Cardano?

But his question is good. What if it goes to $1.75? $1.50? $1.25? $1? $2.50? $2.75? $3.00?

To use their blockchain, you need to use ADA. Every transaction uses ADA. As long as their blockchain is being adopted, which it is, there will be value for the coin. The more adoption, the higher the demand, the higher the price.

I think Hedera will eventually be the FUTURE of transaction on distribution of ledgers. Their scalability is undeniable and the speed is like in a flash with aBFT security . I am betting on both ADA and Hedera but I am more optimistic on Hedera atm.

so is there a more efficient way of transferring? this is why crypto hasn't replaced cash. to buy $100 worth of shiba, i had to pay coinbase $6 to transfer USDT to my wallet, then pay $16 to transfer USDT to the exchgange, then they want $40 at the exchange to swap USDT to shiba. cmon man. at this point i'm just like **** it.

$64 to transfer $100...:facepalm

My dream with Cardano is to be able to loan out ADA and be pretty much guaranteed a return. I'm not sure how the system will work but many people do take out over collateralized loans to short crypto. Imagine smart contracts that execute if the person tries to bail on the payments. I have also read that it might be possible to be rewarded in other crypto that is using the Cardano blockchain. Current rewards for staking our ADA. I would love to be collection Bitcoin and Litecoin too. I already make about 600 dollars a year using DeFi. Not life changing money but if Bitcoin gets in the millions that turns into 10k a year.

Coinbase Pro is cheaper than Coinbase. I think on a 3000k buy I paid like 15 dollars in fees. It was in the pennies with smaller buys.

thanks for the tip. found out the exchange (uniswap) jhust has ridiculous gas fees. i ended up purchasing from kucoin which has more reasonable gas fees.

threw $300 ish on shiba coin lol. i know, shitcoin, but ehh...i'll forget about it.

cardano is something i want to put serious money in, that and ethereum, just waiting to see what the bottom of this dip is.
