Lock down will not solve anything, at least I don't think it will. The point I am attempting to make is that more people probably have it than we will ever know. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing, given that it's death rate is super low, especially not counting for all the people who are completely asymptomatic. Putting on my tinfoil hat, it's quite convenient that whenever there's a positive talking point for Trump in relation to opening up, then there's news of a "new wave" out of China - just a little something to remind people of the scare.
Happens this time after he's announced a rally and it looks like there'll be huge support(because apparently people don't get covid19 during political protests).

I looked into the exact Taiwan Relations Act agreement to check just now.

The Taiwan Relations Act does not guarantee the USA will intervene militarily if the PRC attacks or invades Taiwan nor does it relinquish it, as its primary purpose is to ensure the US's Taiwan policy will not be changed unilaterally by the president and ensure any decision to defend Taiwan will be made with the consent of Congress. The act states that "the United States will make available to Taiwan such defense articles and defense services in such quantity as may be necessary to enable Taiwan to maintain a sufficient self-defense capabilities".

The act further stipulates that the United States will "consider any effort to determine the future of Taiwan by other than peaceful means, including by boycotts or embargoes, a threat to the peace and security of the Western Pacific area and of grave concern to the United States".

Arguably, there is no better solution. America is a huge, diverse country full of mostly apathetic bozos. I used to have hope for a more socially 'advanced' society that would make responsible collective decisions, but the more you look at how many junkies are propagating under every overpass, how many cringey losers camping in the CHAZ, and even a lot of brainless middle class zombies who can't understand concepts beyond "must hate Orange Man to fit in socially," I mean let's face it... Society is mostly betas, scrubs, and fools. Hardly anyone is interested in education and self improvement. What kind of utopia are you ever gonna achieve with these people? It's not happening.

Scandanavian countries seem nice because they dont need to raise an army. We protect them and allow them to essentially invest all their resources inward toward their people. You can't have suburbs without a city center where the actual work is done. America is the city center with the lower wages and grittier conditions. Denmark and Finland are the suburbs. If conditions are artificially improved for everyone (instead of people improving their own conditions for themselves), who's ever gonna be hungry enough to do any of the dirty work that preserves our freedom? So it goes.

No use sweating foreign wars and growing deficits I suppose. Just make sure you know how to navigate the future consequences in a way that will shield your own self/family/friends.
