There is a significant number of NBA players who are disappointed that everyone wasn’t given the opportunity to vote on whether to restart the 2019-20 season, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Last week, the National Basketball Players Association executive committee and its board of representatives approved the league’s 22-team, return-to-play format to be held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, in late July.

The complaint, privately expressed by multiple players, is that every player’s voice wasn’t heard for this critical and potentially life-changing vote, sources said.

The unease about relocating to a quarantined campus during the COVID-19 pandemic was already viewed as hazardous and unnecessary to many players. But because of the George Floyd tragedy and the powerful movement for racial justice that’s sweeping the nation, some players believe it’s bad optics for a league comprised predominantly of black men to be sequestered in one location for up to three months merely to entertain the masses and ease the league’s economic burden, sources said

Adam Silver, the sleigh driver. LeBron and Chris Paul as the lap dogs for blood money. These guys talk real big about racial injustice until it hits their own back pockets. Wouldn’t mind selling their soul for blood money.

I understand the concern from guys like Kyrie and Dwight, but they're not thinking strategically. They're not thinking about how they can broadcast their voice more powerfully or how they can use every channel to their advantage. Right now these guys are actually actively trying to eliminate their most effective vector of information dissemination, which is a huge mistake.

Without doubt, the NBA can do more by being visible versus invisible and the players can add to what they're already doing by also commanding screen time.

As it is, the people that get a player's messages are mostly just their followers and whatever radiates from that - but that's a more narrow group of people. If they're on TV playing a game then they're reaching a much broader audience. If you want to spread your message then that is the best way to do it. There are going to be conservatives and trump supporters and even racists watching the games because those people still like basketball and they will be able to reach them too.

So if the goal is to spread a message to the most people then the league must take advantage of a return where all eyes will be focused on them.

Once they get into that position then the league and its players can be assertive and determine the talking points and set the agenda in front of a wide audience.

I don’t buy this idea that playing basketball games gives them a better platform to speak about social injustices. First all who’s says anyone is gonna say anything?

First of all, the season is going to resume on July 31st. By then the protests will have had many weeks and will be old news. Second, there are players and teams who wish to contend for a championship. And third, being paid that kind of money to be sequestered in Disney's Orlando resort sounds a hell of a lot better than what most Americans get to do during the pandemic.

And finally, who cares what celebrities have to say outside of their profession?

If they want to say something or join the protests, the time is now, not July 31st - end of the 2020 season. Seems like a really silly complaint. What's stopping them right now?

Given that it's their bodies being exposed out there it is truly a poor decision to not let the players and teams decide for themself.

They should have had all the teams vote who wants to continue the season vs not (Must have 10 players willing to play)

eliminate those from the rankings that do not want to participate

Then setup the playoff format as intended

If individual players within the team do not want to parttake, unfortunately that's the reality of things... they cannot rejoin once opting not to participate
