Francis game relied heavily on athletic ability. Marbury did too though not as much. Irving is an ok athlete but he's really about skill. Even when he's old he's still going ti be effective because he's so crafty. Now it is possible that his personality is such that teams don't think he's worth dealing with when he's no longer an elite offensive player but as far as we know he's not crazy like Marbury eating vaseline or doing crack like Francis. He's more like a diva wide receiver. Pain in the ass but not truly a problem.

How fast was Sam Cassell? Irving's biggest strengths are his handle, shooting, and ability to finish under the rim. When he's older he won't be able to turn on his defense (he can play it when he wants to) but he will still be able to scoreand he understands the pg position.

Of course everyone needs some athletic ability. But it shoulf be obvious I am saying that Irving can still be effective without outstanding athleticism unlike Francis who got everything done by overwhelming the defender with his first step and leaping ability.
