Why does communism get a bad rep?

There is no system that can ever address class inequality. It is human nature to stratify into social classes when we enter into societies. Even the natives of the American continent who built societies thousands of years before Columbus or the Puritans showed up, people who knew absolutely nothing about private property, still structured themselves into loose social hierarchies where a privileged class sat above another. Communism ends up failing every time because it was thought up by two economists who failed to understand human beings at their most basic level.

It also doesn't help that the only models we have for communist practice are totalitarian mass murderers.

We are not greedy by nature.

Human nature is not a static thing which has no relation to historical conditions.

Human nature is, as Marx says in the Theses on Feuerbach, an “ensemble of social relations.”

Communist social relations produce communist natures, capitalist social relations produce capitalist natures, etc.



Capitalism is an economic system of greed.

Communism is an economic system of altruism.

OMG, Im Still Ballin is nominated for the most naive person of the year award. It is truly sad they apparently do not teach this in school these days but Phong is 100% correct that pure socialism and therefore communism (which is basically socialism at gunpoint) do not work because of human nature. Im Still Ballin, do you have or have you ever had a job? If so, I am sure you have had to deal with lazy people who do not do what they are supposed to do and try to get away with everything they possibly can? These people have no issues with leaving part of their job for someone else to do. In socialism and communism these types of people do not go away. They do not do their fair share so others have to carry them yet they still receive the exact same as everyone else who is in the system. In capitalism, these types do not excel while people who work harder are generally rewarded by raises, promotions, etc.... If you do not have a job or have never had one then you are likely one of the types of people who make pure socialism /communism fail.

Both lead to eventual societal collapse because a a very small % of people have everything and control everything.

Doesn't matter whether you call yourself government or CEO. They're both siphoning off the people.

That's why a hybrid system is always the answer.
