Why would he want a Glock 17 and a Glock 19? That is a bit redundant. Glock 17 is a fully duty sized pistol so you can’t carry it. If you just want to shoot it at the range then there are other options that are nicer. Plus 9mm is a bit of a waste in a pistol that size. In the 80’s and 90’s Glock started targeting major police forces and basically gave them away in order to get a widespread adaptation and following. Lots of people misinterpret this as “cops use glocks, therefor they must be the best” when it’s really because they got cut the best deal. You see the same assumptions for military weapons. Glock also reached out and worked heavily with the entertainment industry by creating props for shows and movies while working with directors. Using these methods, Glock was able to proliferate through the market at a huge level. From there things continue to spiral. They pretty much found a way to make a really cheap gun and memed their way into existence to get people to think it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread.
