Sounds like Gerald Wilkins is in a dangerous place right now.

The former Knick was recently arrested twice for assault in Georgia and another time was sent to the hospital for a mental health evaluation, according to police records obtained by the Daily News.

The most alarming alleged incident occurred on June 6 when Wilkins, 56, who is the brother of NBA legend Dominique Wilkins, barricaded himself inside his girlfriend’s bedroom for 2 ½ hours, disabled the fire alarm and began pouring “accelerants and other liquids through the cracks of the door repeatedly (rubbing alcohol, bleach, soap, Epson salt, water and urine),” according to the report from the Cobb County police.

After a crisis therapist signed an order for involuntary committal, the police broke through the door and transported Wilkins to a hospital for evaluation, according to the report.

Then on Tuesday, Wilkins was arrested for allegedly threatening a man with a 12-inch screwdriver, according to a separate report. The alleged victim told police Wilkins had walked into his shop “and started yelling and acting aggressive for no reason.” Wilkins allegedly hit another man in the store with an object, the report said, and left with the screwdriver. He was charged with simple battery, aggravated assault and theft.

On May 31, Wilkins was arrested for simple assault after he allegedly forced his way into a woman’s home and pushed her, according to the police report. The woman claimed Wilkins was upset that she wouldn’t let him use her phone.

Wilkins played 13 seasons in the NBA, including his first seven with the Knicks. He averaged a career-high 19.1 points for New York during the 1986-87 season, and signed with the Cavaliers as a free agent in 1992. His son, Damien, played in the NBA until 2018.

Well said. Sounds like he is in a dark place, hope he gets well soon.

He was a good player in his own right. Not all-star like his brother but athletic and a good addition on most teams.

Hopefully he gets the help he needs.

I remember they called Gerald Wilkins "Jordanstopper" on those Cavaliers teams. However, in the playoffs, Jordan had 43 in the first game of the series, and the Bulls swept them.

As always. Never tug on Superman's cape unless you actually have kryptonite.
:whatever:
