According to people I know who take sports style pretty seriously, yes, you do either Nike or adidas but not them together.

Of course, rules were made to be broken.

It is completely unacceptable to purchase Nike in the first place. Nike makes way overpriced truly crappy shoes that wear out very quickly. I have never purchased anything from Adidas so I can not speak to the quality of their products.
