He was a great rim protector and was making a difference on defense. Shame he didn't get picked.

No he wasn’t. This is the definition of a shit post.

Kevin Durant brought it on defense the first year he came to Golden State in 2016-2017. He was playing smart and disciplined while hustling and giving great effort. After the first year much of that went out of the window and by 2019 he wasn’t doing any of that anymore. He stopped paying attention, would refuse to switch, gambled a whole lot more. Eye test and statistics show that KD played the best defense of his career and was great in 2017....but KD soon slipped back into his old habits the following two years. Watch when KD comes back to Brooklyn, his defense will be poor. Durant bought into the GS system and then was coaxed into giving a strong defense effort for the first time ever in his career. Shame it only lasted 1 season.

He had a DPOY worthy first half of 2017/18. His effort faded later on, but still that first half was good enough to get him in the All defense team IMO.

He was really dominant on defense.

Exactly he stopped switching and playing defense and started doing whatever he wanted. Nice highlights, not so nice results statistically. There’s a reason why the Warriors defensive ratings took a slip in 2018 and 2019. Durant stopped playing proper defense.

KD’s peak ended in 2017.

He mentally went off the rails in 2018 and 2019 and so did his defense.

You still have to do more than that. Making a difference on defense should be the bare minimum for playing.
