Disney may have avoided doing something revolutionary when they shied away from making their gay snow princess explicitly gay, but now they’re going full-blown anarchy with a “female-fronted” Pirates of the Caribbean project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney tapped Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson to write a “wholly original story with new characters under the Pirates moniker,” with Margot Robbie attached to star.

They dont mind losing money on the occasional propaganda investment. These flicks convince a significant segment of voters (rmwg, bladefd, millertime, soycuck3) Hollywood cares about teh feminismsms.

These kinds of projects are generally too ham-fisted with their agenda. If a writer has a good concept you can make a good movie with a female lead, be it a pirate or a ghost buster. But if you insist on building the movie around a social agenda instead of an entertaining concept what you will get is an unoriginal statement stretched out over two hours by commercial writers that are following a formula so that they can cash a check. It's nice if you can deliver a message but the most important thing for an action movie is that it be entertaining.

Marvel comics is good at this with their movies. Infinity War was dio great that when you throwi n the little scene with all the female heroes it doesn't hurt the movie. Because that scene wasn't the point of the movie it was just a little statement made within a movie. They also did this well with Captain Marvel. It was a fun movie and the lead just happened to be female. DC even had a rare success taking a similar route with Wonder Woman.

So basically... please don't make a movie that is Harley Quinn vs. Sexism.
