What are my suggestions? I don't have any really, other than the city should stop electing Mayor's who refuse to address the problem.

You fix the problem via education and removing/modifying policies that potentially encourage single motherhood... aka... welfare, at least how it is currently constructed... sorry, but it's true. It's not an easy fix and it's not going to change overnight... but those are the two places you start.

However, certain parts of Chicago are so far gone right now that it actually might take a massive show of force to get it to stop... it's going to be a generational battle at this point though.

The problem stems from single parent homes. Typically a female only parent will raise these type of people. No real role model or man to show these people how to be real men. These men are emotionally charged because they were raised by women.

That's just the thing, they keep electing these Democrat mayors who promise change, but actually make it worse. What does the other side provide? It's hard to answer that question seeing as the last time there was a Republican Mayor in Chicago was in 1931. Yes, 1931.

This is so passé now in our weak snowflake culture, but how about mandatory enlistment into the Army for repeat offenders? Or for anyone in the 16-30 age range who commits a crime worthy of a prison sentence, it's either service or prison.

If these youths are lacking structure and discipline, why would anyone object to this?

Yes. Definition two major things we can fix right now (education and welfare state).

A win for education freedom today. 5-4 ruling in favor of school choice.

The biggest thing though is probably culture in the home where the kids come from. Kids who come from homes that value education (and hard work, discipline, etc) do well. Kids who come from homes that do not education do poorly. That's how it's always been and it continues today.


(Btw, for anyone arguing "lack of funding" as the main issue for K-12 education)
