At least the kid is in nba shape. He can provide some scoring off the bench, and he is only 23 or 24.

Last time JR Smith played in a real nba game was 20 months ago.

Adding young players with no playoff experience is not what championship teams typically do. It's counterproductive.

He's been under utilized by the Knicks because they have plenty of younger guards in their roster.

I don't fancy Zo. So far, he doesn't play hard on defense and lack fundamentals on team defense too on my Knicks.
He misses open teammates frequently too. He is just a isolation artist. His game doesn't translate to the NBA.
To put it simply, he's not great.
J.R. Smith is the better bet to make because who wants to pick a 2 year player over a player who has veteran and championship experience? He's a 3pt shooter like Zo. Also he has experience in the POs unlike Zo who has no experience at all in the POs.

I get the JR signing. JR is streaky but he's still athletic enough to keep Dudley on the bench while providing occasional scoring outbursts.
NBA veterans will be going hard and it will make for some ugly offensive basketball for the first 2-3 weeks but the hustle will be there. Lebron, Kawhi, Giannis, are all going to be locked and loaded.
Dwight is easily influenced... He's definitely going to play. I respect Avery for having a plan for what he wants to see change and his family risk.

Chemistry is probably the reason. Lebron and JR have years of experience which you cant learn in a couple of weeks
