Now this is how you do a reboot.I remember watching this during summer break on life time (tv network).
That 1st episode was amazing.Just wish they had a creepy host.
Lets see if this show goes downhill after episode one

It felt like things were left out of the first episode. Can't quite put my finger on it. The whole Freemason twist was interesting though. I'm kind of glad they haven't deliberately made this show creepy tbh. More interested in the real life events than sitting through attempts to scare people.
The second episode was less interesting. Edit: apart from the husband and the bones. Show seems ok though.

The episode about Ray Rivera was a 10/10 masterpiece. (Mystery on the Rooftop). I will be revisiting this in the future. Lots of good info in that episode. The other 5 episodes were decent, but that first one is an absolute masterpiece and a very bizarre story. It would take a conspiracy theorist of the highest ranks to solve that one.

A truly bizarre episode. How were his glasses and phone unharmed if he fell from the roof of the hotel? If he didn't fall to the ground and his body was planted there, how did the hole get there? Just so many unanswered questions.

Porter Stansberry is the key... dude is 100% guilty, and very much apart of the brotherhood.
Has anyone watched the brand new series on Netflix called Unsolved Mysteries with the very first episode about Porter Stansbury’s best friend and employee Rey Riviera’s obvious staged suicide/murder? Stansbury’s actions and complete refusal to speak to the police detectives is highly suspicious to say the least. Not only did he refuse to speak to the detectives, he also took the extreme measures legally to place gag orders on all his employees as well from speaking to police. The fact there is no mention of Stansbury’s actions, involvement and his complete lack of all communication after the death of his best friend with his bf’s wife, to me only adds to the obvious questions regarding his involvement in the murder. I will be very interested to see if the power of Netflix puts much needed pressure on Stansbury and the Baltimore police to once and for all take a deep dive into Stansbury and what his best friend and employee was really working on the time of his death. The last call Rey Riviera received before he RAN out of his home was from Stansbury’s office switchboard. Even though police said the call was made thru the switchboard and couldn’t be determined as to who from the office actually called, it seems an obvious conclusion that if Mr. Stansbury called his best friend because Stansbury was in trouble, Rey would have immediately run out of his house to help his friend he has known since they were both 15. Stansbury’s legal problems after his friends murder only adds to my strong belief that there aren’t any coincidences.
Just doing a quick search on Porter Stansberry.... look what I find: Alex Jones.

Yeah there was a lot going on in this episode. The obvious comment is that Porter Stansberry knows something. If it was Porter who called Ray and had him rush out the door, what was said and why?
Was Porter in trouble as a 'set up' to get Ray to save him. Was Porter in trouble genuinely and Ray got mixed up with the wrong person?
Was some of Ray's investment advice/write ups losing the 'wrong people' money?
Lots of questions to ponder.

One piece of mysterious evidence was a cryptic note found by family members after Rivera had disappeared. It was typed in miniscule print, folded up in plastic and taped to Rivera's home computer screen along with a blank check.
"It just seemed bizarre. Really bizarre," said Baltimore Police Department Cmdr. Fred Bealefeld.
Officials found it so strange that police sent it to the FBI, which examined it and concluded it wasn't a suicide note. Blizzard reviewed it and agreed.
"What it does appear to be is a weird stream of conscious writing," he said. "The other thing I thought of … is if he's writing some type of code to someone about something. That's possible."
The note was addressed to brothers and sisters and referred to a well-played game. It named people who had died, including actor Christopher Reeve and filmmaker Stanley Kubrick. It also contained a long list of people Rivera knew and was related to, with a request to make them and himself five years younger.
The note also introduced an element of the case that involved Rivera's apparent interest in the Free Masons. The note began and ended with phrases used in the Masonic order.
Rivera's family and friends said his fascination with the Free Masons centered on their reputation as an organization with secrets.
Miller learned that on the day Rivera disappeared, he'd talked with a member of the Maryland lodge to inquire about joining. On the weekend before his disappearance, he spent time reading the book "The Builders," a study of masonry.
On the day he disappeared, Rivera went to a bookstore and bought the book Free Masons for Dummies.
"It could be totally unrelated. It sounds to me like a person who's inquisitive and wants to know more about an organization. Why? I don't know," Blizzard said.
"Based on what we've seen, his interest in the Masonic order was not to do charitable work," Bealefeld said. "Somehow it was linked to his interest in the movie industry and this theory that somehow there was control being exerted by the Masonic order."

I was wondering if they could determine whether that hole was actually the result of a falling body, or whether any power tools were used to create it.
And the one security camera facing that direction conveniently not turned on or functioning that night. If it was murder, surely it was possibly multiple perpetrators with sufficient connections.

I had noticed the movie Unbreakable made the list... A Masonic Masterpiece I might add.
The last scene is a perfect depiction of Duality:
A Masonic Handshake between two individuals on opposite ends of the spectrum on a Masonic Checkerboard Floor, With a scene of Samuel L. saying: "Secrets"

Based on the letter... Very obvious that Rey Rivera was playing a game with his Masonic friends at work.
It's possible he just didn't realize the full nature of the game he was involved in... but the scene with alarm going off at his house late at night and him walking around with a baseball bat may suggest otherwise.
Masons like to play games... but those games are a little different then what we are use to playing.
Another movie this episode made me think of: The Game, which ends with Michael Douglas falling off the roof of a hotel.

architecture to the building does have some Masonic qualities...
but let's take a look inside.
Supposedly this building has some history
A wise old owl sat in an oak / the more he saw the less he spoke
The less he spoke the more he heard / why can't we all be like that wise old bird?
First-time visitors to the Owl Bar may be amused by the appearance of a nursery rhyme embedded in stained glass above the antique backbar at Baltimore’s landmark Belvedere Hotel. More than a quaint decoration, however, the rhyming couplet is actually a nod to the Prohibition-era legacy that the bar’s feathered mascots played a major part in.
Built in 1903, the Belvedere was the city’s first luxury hotel, putting Baltimore on the map as a place where well-heeled travelers -- from presidents to royalty -- could rest and relax in a manner befitting their status. Crafted in the popular Beaux-Arts style, the hotel was quite the gathering spot with no place more cozy than the dark paneled Owl Bar tucked away off of the main lobby.

I watched it over the weekend and thought it was great. This show had a huge impact on me as a kid too. To the point where as an adult I've been true crime obsessed. And I predate the current true crime hysteria. Most of these cases I've heard about briefly here or there over the years, so my instinct was this wasn't going to work, because so many people are doing this stuff privately now. YouTube is full of channels that do this sort of stuff in varying types of styles (gallows humor, extra creepy, conspiratorial tilt, obsessive) to the point it's almost impossible to not find one that perfectly suits your taste. However it doesn't take long to see what high end professional production can bring to the table. Everything from access to top end interviewing, super cinematic camera work, graphic design, and don't underestimate a good editor to keep the general narrative flowing, because cases like these are prone to drifting off into a particular theory quickly and way too hard. I ended up loving it.
The only episode I wasn't crazy about was the last one with the missing daughter. May have been viewing fatigue as I watched them all over the weekend, but it also felt a little too "solved".
I liked the inclusion of the UFO episode, which really does feel like the original show, and keeps this from being full time true crime.

Just watched the first, immense...
Am I the only one who got a kind of detached vibe from Ray in the few scenes we saw him in? Like there was something hid away deep beneath his exterior..?
None the less he seemed nice and morally upstanding.
What if something sinister happened, and he was thrown through that roof in a way not theorized on? Probably unlikely.
Probably, he did jump... But why. What was that phone call, that could seemingly change things so drastically one second to the other.
I just got to the note/freemason part.
Honestly, he seems twisted/weird enough for that to be his final note.
It was written on the day he disappeared/died, I mean cmon on! Of course the fact he scurried out the building is weird..
I feel like he was egged on to do this? Some kind of sacrifice? Or legit forced to do it.

Yeah a bit. Something with his demeanor where he was present but maybe not "happy". Ray's reactions seemed somewhat forced but I could be wrong.
Have you ever seen The Game? Its with Michael Douglas and Sean Penn. Ray was a BIG fan of the movie and talked about it inside that note you referenced. The way he died is similar to a scene in the movie. EERILY similar. Ray even mentions 'participants in the game' and wanting everyone close to him to receive their compensations. I think this man was mixing fantasy and reality.
Can't explain the cellphone or glasses not being damaged. He very well could have been coerced into suicide.
The Movie is a great watch BTW. Would recommend. The other episodes on this Unsolved reboot are OK. Not like this story but definitely leaves you with questions.

I actually have seen that movie, yeah...
So its not just one movie among that list which is conspiracy/freemason/cultish... Eyes Wide Shut on there as well.
I mean he used the quotes, listed the movies, friends knew him to be a fan..
But a quote in this thread he was just beginning to read books about Freemasonry and inquiring about joining, so how could he have been so involved already?
Who was he playing with, if he was?
Is Stansberry connected to the Freemason deal? He probably knew of it, given how close they were.
And decided not to speak on it.
Which could have been his own fear for his life, knowing the trouble Ray got into.
Also he definitely seems to be a narcissist, from the videos he makes nowadays.
And while Ray wasn‘t mentally ill or depressed, he does seem detached, not entirely present.. And actually, being interested about Freemasonry is one thing, but writing notes like that in serious manner, does speak of some mental ****ery.
But still baffled as to what could have caused someone wanting him dead.
Perhaps they too saw it as a game. A joke. And he, twisted as he was on the matter, felt he had to go along.

Whats weird is....
His wife said he was terrified the night before with the bat.
Yet didnt he write that letter the day he disappeared?
It doesnt really seem like someone in a terrified state would write, unless mentally inconsistent.
Also if he was terrified and trying to fight it, he probably wouldnt go along with some game or task of killing himself, would he?!
Unless he was terrified because he just didnt want his wife to be a part of it.
But I dont think that was only it. If he was terrified, he wouldnt come running to meet maybe his end in the rules of a game he played.

Something I never understood about the movie The Game... is why did the director make the hole in the ceiling so impossible to fall through?
It had to be 100% precise for Michael Douglas to fall on that X... almost ruins the entire movie. One foot to the left or right and he's breaking his back on those steel beams.
So they were able to calculate the exact way Michael Douglas's body would fall to where he wouldn't die? Or did he just get lucky and people at the party were attending his funeral, not his birthday.
Everything could've been pulled off by those elitist game-playing hoaxers,... except that part. Why make that part the only part that is completely unrealistic?

How does no one hear the impact of his body going through the roof??
And if some of his injuries are not consistent with the fall, then it’s possible he was beat up prior, and was maybe then thrown off to make it seem like a suicide. Either way, his buddy is responsible somehow.

The Game is one of the few movies that touches up on the situation we currently find ourselves in. It does so literally, as Michael Douglas works his way into the cafeteria filled with crisis actors of every kind, all of which who've had some kind of involvement in his life. Those rooms exist. It's a legit society within a society with it's own elected officials and role players. It's the society we are all clueless about. The Truman Show somewhat gives us an analogy of the type of world we live in, Truman would represent society, and how clueless Truman/Society is to the world they think they are living in. Make no mistake about it, It's all carefully controlled and hand crafted by the elites. All of it.
So the movie or trilogy I'd really like to point out... That is 100% about how this society actually operates... is John Wick. Basically the entire trilogy is about the Illuminati. If you watched all three of those movies and didn't come to that conclusion you weren't paying attention.... at all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lO_Rvt6Wdlc
1:10 to 1:55, it's a nation full of actors.
The Continental was introduced halfway through John Wick, shortly after our hero recovers his gold coins. Located in lower Manhattan, the hotel is Switzerland for the assassin underworld. There’s just one rule in The Continental: No business can be conducted on the neutral premises. And in a world of assassins, “business” means one thing.
“It’s kind of like in those old vampire movies: You enter the church and you’re safe,” says Kolstad.
With the introduction of The Continental we’re tossed into a bizarre underworld that appears to be hiding in plain sight. This world has its own currency (the aforementioned coins) and its own code of “honor among thieves,” as Kolstad describes it.
We quickly learn that breaking the sole rule of The Continental has fatal consequences. This structure, these rules, imply far more world-building than you’d expect from a vehicle for physical stunts and gun-fu choreography. John Wick raises more questions than delivers answers

It also bothers me that they say the family was killed Sunday-Monday and he Tuesday-Wednesday, yet in the timeline the murders are apart only one day: 4th-5th. That's a mistake.

Not much unsolved, but hasn't been legally cleared.
Just horryfing how evil Sandy is.
It was such an ungrateful situation to be born into for Lena, she would have needed to make ALOT of right turns and calculated decisions for it to have worked out for her in the end.
Brandi is amazing. I really admire her.
Also apparently a big clue was left out which only would have made it more obvious in case it wasn't yet:
But one Reddit user claiming to be a family member says there were a lot of incriminating details missing from the segment.
They said, “Sandy randomly showed up there the day Lena disappeared. Sandy told Lena’s boyfriend that she had ran off with another man and left her kid behind. Soon after she “ran off to Florida,” the landlord did complete renovations due to bloodstains on the carpet. The landlord was quoted saying “it looked like a dog had been chopped up” because when the carpet was pulled up, a giant bloodstain was found on the wood below the carpet, as well as in the carpet itself.”
They continued, “The landlord disposed of the old carpet and didn’t notify police, because he was unaware of the circumstances behind Lena’s disappearance, all he knew is that Lena “moved away.” To make things even more interesting, soon thereafter, the entire apartment building burnt to the ground.”
“I felt like the episode hit all the main points, but there are more gruesome details that were left out,” the Redditor concluded. “Overall, it just reignites my hatred for Sandy and her murderous boyfriend. Our family is still broken and we will not rest until justice is served.”

Unsolved Mysteries has been fairly successful in getting its cases solved over its nearly 35-year history. Of the nearly 1,300 cases featured on the show over the years, co-creator Terry Dunn Meurer has estimated that about 260 of them have been solved, with many of these solutions coming due to tips offered by viewers.
Now, we are one step closer to the first case from the show's Netflix season being solved. In June, just before the first six episodes of Unsolved Mysteries 2020, the FBI announced it was offering a reward in the case of one of the subjects of the true-crime show.
In a press release, the U.S. Attorney's Office in the District of Kansas said: "The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for the death of Alonzo Brooks. Brooks' body was found in a creek in La Cygne, Kan., on May 1, 2004."
They later added: "[U.S. Attorney Stephen] McAllister and the FBI reopened the investigation over a year ago. They have reviewed evidence going back 16 years, re-interviewed many witnesses who attended a party at a farmhouse where Brooks was last seen alive, interviewed new witnesses, and collected all available physical and forensic evidence."
Serious hate crime covered up on this one. Would be perfect timing for the FBI to solve this one considering everything going on in the BLM movement today.

He comes back, apparently asks no questions, until he is killed at night.
Blunder on his part. Should have guessed something was off, right? Maybe they didnt have WA but they must have had FB. And when he comes home and no one is there? I dont know..
It also bothers me that they say the family was killed Sunday-Monday and he Tuesday-Wednesday, yet in the timeline the murders are apart only one day: 4th-5th. That's a mistake.
And the investigation is a joke. Going after him SEVEN DAYS after they saw him on CCTV just because they assumed he would kill himself? Cmon now.
I thought that story was interesting... you never know what could've really happened, but he most likely lost his mind due to financial losses.
he aristocratic family lived a bit of a lavish life. They attended private schools, went on vacations, had the best stuff that money could buy, and were just generally assumed to be a very well-off family. But the truth was far from it. Xavier, who claimed to be a businessman handling several successful businesses, in fact, had very limited success in his career. He had blown through their savings and soon the family would have been left with almost nothing.
Not wanting to put his family name to shame or live a life away from the wealth and riches, he apparently devised a plan that would solve everything. In early April, he shut off his wife’s sleep apnea machine and shot her twice in the head as she slept, using his father’s .22 caliber rifle which he had inherited after his passing months before. Following that, he did the same to Arthur, Anne, Benoît, and the dogs as they slept. He called Thomas, his true heir and eldest son, the next day, April 4, 2011, to get him home from University. After that, he shot him as well.
Autopsy reports indicate that each child had sleeping pills in their system, so they were all drugged up and had passed away in their sleep. By April 11, 2011, the bodies were buried under the house’s patio after proper Catholic rituals were performed, the house had been completely emptied and cleaned, and a note on the letterbox that stated, “Please return all mail to sender. Thank you,” had been placed.
A typed and unsigned letter, dated April 11, was also sent to close friends and family members. It stated that Xavier had been working for the American Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and that the whole family had to relocate to the United States as a part of a Federal Witness Protection Program. It also specified that no one would be able to contact them for a few years and if anyone asks, say that they have moved to Australia. To this day, there is no proof that this letter was written by Xavier or if, he did in fact, murder his whole family and then disappear.

That one really irritated me. She got away with two premeditated murders and is free today.
And raised the damn child which was her wish to do so...
Just doesnt sit right at all.

They should offer that Kris guy full immunity for his cooperation in testifying against Sandy.

New season is out if yall didnt know
My theory for the 1st episode is below.Avoid if you want to watch it
He had a manic episode.Smoke grenades....ransacking his own kitchen...walking around the city like a hobo...Eventually, he tried to break in someones car in Wilmingtonn(he was in a manic state) and got a case of the beats. The dude beat him bad enough that he was satisfied or felt sorry for him and let him go (or he would of been robbed if he killed him).I suppose getting beat about the head wouldnt help a manic person. So yeah anyway he ran and hid in a dumpster thinking someone was coming to hurt him.Eventually, the garbage truck came, him still being in a manic state, he made no noise when it picked up the dumpster and threw it in the back. The compactor crushed him and he died.
most logical thing that happened. He also could of been hit by a car and thrown in the dumpster or beat to death by someone who he pissed off.People who are not around mentally unstable ppl wouldnt understand what the fk is going on and they would just beat his ass thinking he was disrespecting them.....
This show had me fckd up as a kid

The second wave of episodes wasn't as good as the first.

Some of these episodes are cringy, i'm sure the ones in the 90s or 00s were as well. Especially the UFO ones... i guess i just fell for it more when I was a kid versus seeing things with skepticism as I do now.
Last night I watched an episode about a lady who seemingly walked into a lake in michigan, apparently she had extended family issues regarding a inheritance and they noticed her car may have moved between the time she left church and was reported missing.
Later found her body 30mi downriver in Canada I believe
Such a weak episode. Although a reboot, I hope they do those "Update" episodes where they reintroduce a past story from the earlier version of the show that resulted in a conviction/answer.

Anything worth watching in the new season?
Episodes dont have many good ratings anymore.
Haven't seen anything since S1.

I was watching the original series like a year ago. A lady friend told me that the first episode they ever made involved a case in the town right next to mine. Saw the very first episode and it was true. :lol

Both the original and the remake are very hit and miss... when they cover a good case it can be a great show, but they sure do pick a lot of lame "mysteries" to cover

Damn... it was ****ing 2020 when I wrote about this.
4 years ago already.

The two most grounded episodes were good. Ep 2, The Body in the Basement, and Ep 3, The Severed Head.
Both are not actually solved, which you would think would be a precursor for a show called Unsolved Mysteries, but doesn't always seem to be the case.
I wanted to like the Jack The Ripper Episode, Ep 1, but I've read a bunch of Ripper stuff over the years, and while it's a good one hour overview of the case, there's better Ripper stuff just on youtube.
Ep 4 is a ghost episode that didn't really do it for me, and Ep 5 is about The Mothman, and was interesting, but there's better Mothman stuff on youtube too. I also think sometimes I just like them less as I move on just from general show fatigue.
