Bale.
Dicaprio is not a a great actor. He's a bankable actor in the Tom Cruise/Brad Pitt category.

The Departed alone rivals

I think there are a lot of DiCaprio roles that Bale could have done, but not as many Bale roles that DiCaprio could have done instead.
But, DiCaprio is a great actor. I found him fantastic in Blood Diamond, The Departed, Titanic, What's Eating Gilbert Grape (his best role), and Shutter Island.
Those are roles that I think wouldn't have fit Bale in my opinion.
Then I look at a film like The Prestige, and there's no way Leo could have done that film. Same goes for the Batman Trilogy, American Hustle, The Machinist, American Psycho.

American Hustle was good, but I could see Leo doing that role, same with American Psycho. Batman, no I don't see that. As for The machinist or Prestige, I never saw them.

Leo pretty much plays the same character in every role... the super intense, inquisitive, slick talking pretty boy protagonist.
Bale has roles like in the machinist and american psycho where he displays way more range.

Equilibrium is another great Bale flick. The Machinist is tough to watch, but again, hard to envision anyone else in that role. The Prestige is the film that first introduced me to Bale, so I may be a bit partisan in the impression that it left me with. I would definitely watch The Prestige.

Tristan Bale is cool too but he has a handful of cringey performances like John Conner in Terminator Salvation :oldlol:
Can't really find a bad Dicaprio one, his overall film resume flick for flick is just better. Lots of classics
Even his younger days Romeo + Juliet, Gilbert Grape, Titatic
Bale's movies are a hit or miss but that's not always actors fault

Both of them are great actors and some of my all-time favorites.
I think Bale is better at getting into a role. The way he can pack on pounds, lose weight, or get fit so fast is so impressive to me. He's also more versatile
Leo's a fantastic actor too, but he doesn't have the range Bale does.

Inquisitive personality and character, yes yes. Also intense. yes. Very precise description if I do say so myself, m'lad

I think Leonard DiCaprio is just slightly better than Christian Bale, but the thing is that you can't really say one is "better" because that's dependent on their roles in movies, and that depends on the movies they've made. Leonardo has been in more movies that have been well received, whereas Christian reprises less roles that are of higher quality because they required him to act more (losing weight, adding weight, being mentally unstable). Leonardo also had his fair share of struggles that have forced him to act more, most notably the Revenant, and even the departed where he also plays a mentally unstable character.
So objectively, either choice is correct, since they are both actors that have played amazing roles.
Personally, I've seen more Leonardo DiCaprio movies, so I'd consider him better.

Christian Bale is the better actor... far better.
He was pretty much a pro in his childhood. Professional child actor and is the most relevant today... same level as Daniel Day Lewis.
Leo just has the better characters and movies.
Surrounds himself with other Oscar worthy performances in his films... builds Super Teams.

Leo is great, don't get me wrong, but he acts a similar style most movies.

I like DiCaprio a great deal but Bale is a better, classic type actor to me. I'll vote Bale.
Funny thing is, Bale's best performance, Patrick Bateman in American Psycho was going to originally be played by Leonardo but he dropped out for PR reasons due to his teenybopper heartthrob status after Titanic.

Never liked Leo as an actor prior 2006, just couldn't take him serious, but from 2006 and on he has been very good. Bale is more of a method actor, he seems to have more range than Leo for that reason I would go with Bale.
