Second oldest to lead the league in assists

One of only 9 players ever to have 25 and 10 in a season

ONE seed in the Wild West. I heard the East is weak is this tru?

Obviously not. Giannis wins. The end.

You really think LeBron has no chance? What is the Bucks record with Giannis and Lakers record without LeBron?

Giannis has a 50% chance to win. LeBron has a 17% chance and his teammate has a 10% chance to win.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/friv/mvp.html

I was tracking it all year. LeBron's percentage started to trend upward late in the season, but Giannis was at 50-70% almost all season long.

If LeBron were to win, it would also be one of the rare instances in which a player won the MVP while only having the second highest PER on his team. I think Steve Nash was the last to win it that way.

Giannis gets reg season MVP. Kawhi gets finals MVP. LeBron gets a nice pat on the shoulder for good effort.

Kawhi/Giannis are this era's version of Shaq/Duncan. Lebron's old ass needs to stay out of this.

Kawhi has never led the league in VORP. LeBron has done it 9 times. Will Kawhi get ONE in his entire career?

He would rather play defense than worry about half baked advanced stats.

Giannis has higher VORP then LeBron despite playing nearly 300 less minutes, so I'm not sure why you think that's your argument.

At least Kawhi never lost in the playoffs while playing with the playoff leader in VORP like LeBron did in 2011.

Probably not. I think it will be greek. If bron does get it though it will be well deserved.

Nah. Giannis is doing like 2000 Shaq numbers in 32mpg. Record PER. Only way Lebron would have gotten MVP is 1) Giannis pace tailed off 2) the team had a late year slide 3) in combination with 1 and 2, the 'age' narrative. Basically when the season abruptly halted in March ANY shot of a late season push that would usurp Giannis ended.

Remember when LeBron completely humiliated Giannis in front of the world before the lockdown?

This game cemented the MVP for GOAT James imo, Giannis has the better overall stats but LeBron showed out more in the games vs comp

They're 1-1 this season.

Randomly won matchups isn't what decides this. It's who has the best overall body of work and if they happen to be on the best team? It's gonna take a unique case to get around that. Like Westbrook in 2017.

Bucks are like 6-0 without Giannis this season

If we're talking "most valuable" then it's easily LeBron. Lakers also have the best record against teams above .500 in the NBA

Bookmark this thread until the results come out. Regardless of how you think it's going to go off your own biases, you're going to be disappointed. I don't care who wins the MVP. I'm just telling you this shits been in the bag since the new year and Lebron's been climbing uphill since. He closed the gap slightly, that's about it.

Kawhi's blessed to have played for stacked teams and great coaches in the last decade.

The only scenario I see LeBron winning it is if Giannis misses the final 8 games (already has missed a few) and the Lakers finish with the best record. Otherwise, LeBron will finish 2nd.

If he doesn't decline in 2021 he should have a good shot then because voter fatigue will prevent Giannis from winning in 21'.

The NBA just came out to say the race for all season awards is over, so the remaining 8 games don't count towards it:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nba.com/amp/league/article/2020/07/17/2019-20-nba-awards-individual-races-over

Basically whoever wins MVP and all other awards is based on what they did up till March when the league suspended play.

vegas has giannis at a 97.2% probability to win so yea this is over lol. I dont think it'll be close to unanimous however. lebron+others will get like 10-15.

Thanks. I hadn't seen that. That is BS but if so, Giannis is MVP with LeBron's outside shot extinguished.

LeBron definitely should win his 5th MVP.

The degree of difficulty for what he's done is through the roof and surpasses everyone else.

Here's the thing.

LeBron is a general manager, coach and a player.

Giannis is just a player.

It's really no contest. LeBron is far and away the true MVP of this season...

Not only for his brilliant on court performance (a graybeard dominating the likes of Giannis and Kawahi), but also because he put the f-ing team together and coached them up as well.

No contest.

How can you be an MVP if you're not even the best player on your team and only 2nd option to AD?

If journalists and other voters had the slightest slice of objectivity running through their veins LeBron would win MVP this year. That said, I can understand they didn't vote for him. First of all, if they were objective LeBron would win every year, which isn't good for the sport. Second of all, LeBron's greatness has been his own downfall. He's been elite in the NBA the very second he got drafted. He's been so good that his greatness has become regular, and the abnormal is no longer abnormal. Any other player posting that line would run away with MVP.

Giannis will probably win it,outside of him L36ron more than likely even though his teammate Anthony Davis was leading in all categories except assists for the Lakers.Plus he has a huge impact on the defensive end so he could be the DPOY.

Shooter
07-24-2020, 01:29 AM
He definitely should.

Lakers are outscoring opponents by 14.0 per 100 possessions when LBJ is on the court and are outscored by 2.7 per 100 when he is off the court. This is a net diff of 16.7, the most by anyone this season with a minimum of 800 minutes.

By definition, the MVP. Of course. Like always. Again. GOAT gon' GOAT.
