Two early 90s' high draft pick forwards who hit the league with much fan fare only to fall fast.

Who was 'supposed' to turn out as the better pro?

Remember and liked them both, thought Ellis had the potential to be a star, he was very explosive, too bad he had some bad injuries early

LaPhonso was better and injuries robbed him.

Owens probably had more potential by definition as he should have been way better.

Billy Owens had the bigger upside - he was supposed to be a ball-handler/big guard

Billy Owens - at different times - yielded Mitch Richmond, Rony Seikaly and Lindsay Hunter. Talk about bad trades.
