Tom Thibodeau and the Knicks are reportedly finalizing a head coaching job agreement.

He's known for being a very good coach, and also one who plays starters massive amounts of minutes.

I like this addition, but as long as Dolan is the owner, we will go nowhere. Dolan is a cancer to this franchise and he is the reason I refuse to attend games at the Garden. It's sad that a city like New York can't have a competitive basketball team. And no, the Brooklyn Nets don't count.

I didn't say that. It's just a really typical move for the Knicks to go out and sign someone recognizable, rather than to build up talent in their own organization. It's the typical New York mindset. In business, people come from all over the world to work in NY. They have the pick of some of the best talent in the world. However, in the NBA the financial playing field is more level, and that arrogance is a liability.

Thibs was a great coach because he figured out a good defensive system in the post 2001 rule changes with the Celtics, then used it to great effect in Chicago. His strategies are not new anymore. The thing that made him a great coach doesn't really make him special anymore. The Knicks ownership isn't worried about that, because they probably don't understand that shit in the least. The see that he has a good record and people say he's great, so they signed him. Then they'll act confused when they underperform.

Phil Jackson? Mike D'Antoni? Same deal.

Thibs is used to relying on veterans. Knicks will probably all be about youth. Will be interesting.

Because he is overrated - wears out his players.

Barks non-stop which is annoying but also too controlling.

Means, NYK miss out on a chance to give a new coach/new approach a chance (I mean completely new to the NBA or try to develop youth.)

at this point, Thibs should just approach things the way George Karl did during the millennial and have some fun.
