and just think .. this guy was walking around like he was just another regular person .. probably liked by many who knew him .. caught him while he was chillin riding his motorcycle without a care in the world .. and there are other killers out there just like him who are someone's friend/coworker/someone you have small talk with at the store .. creepy

It wasnt really "modern forensics" that caught him. The police have been in possession of the original night stalkers DNA for decades, the reason he was caught was because the police submitted his DNA profile to a bunch of sites that catalogue and organize people based on their genetics, and one of those sites (GEDmatch) contained DNA for one of his distant cousins... once they were able to link the suspect to a family, it wasnt hard to figure out which member of the family had a life history that matched up with the times/places where the GSK attacks took place.
