Unfortunately Barkley’s team was just too weak. Imagine if Barkley had Pippen as a 2nd option instead of Dan Majerle

Barkley was one of my favorite players to watch. Didn't give you much on the defensive end, but very skilled in just about everything else. Weird that a player of his magnitude(a true superstar) had just one finals appearance. He played on good teams and raised his own level of play in the postseason. Bad fortune one could say.

The Sixers traded away the chance to draft Brad Daughtery for Roy Hinson. Barkley-Daughtery would have been perennial contenders from 1988-1993 but instead Barkley's "sidekick" was Hersey Hawkins in Philly :lol . They also traded away an old but still productive Moses (24/12/1 in his final year in PHI and 24/11/2 at 31 in his first season in WAS. Moses was 20/12 as late as age 33 and 19/10 as late as age 34 in 90', all better tha Hawkins).

Pippen 15/12/12 with 2 steals and 2 blocks in this game. 21/9/8 for the series--the third straight finals he got close to a triple double average.
Majerle got decimated by MJ. Yeah, MJ is a tough assignment but he wasn't putting up 41 or close to 41 against LA, POR, SEA, or UTA and Majerle's strength supposedly was defense. No excuse for that. John Starks "held" MJ to 32 on 40% in the previous series but "Thunder Dan" is giving up 41 on 51%? :oldlol:
K. Johnson was the Sun's 2nd option, Majerle just had a better series because KJ spent the finals and WCF choking.
If KJ shows up for the finals or if Majerle comes close to Starks' work on MJ, Barkley has a ring.

It was great series the only thing that was kinda of sad was that Barkley got elbow injured late in this game 2 and shot poorly after that. He did score quite effectively on two of the best defenders at their respective positions in Pippen and Grant (27 PPG on 48%FG). He rebounded great at 13.0 RPG and created and passed great at 5.5 APG. The problem was Jordan who forced KJ to shoot only 41% FG and nobody could guard prime-peak Jordan not even Thunder Dan who was a good defender but a little slow in moving sideways. Jordan benefited big time because he took Dan off the dribble the whole series. MJ was actually guarded better by smaller guards cause they could keep in front of MJ forcing him to shoot more jumpers than let him go to attack the basket which was even more dangerous.
