Really interesting read. Basically which skill sets tend to earn the most or least salary. Which skill sets lead to the most or least impact. The data aligns with what I already feel, which are players who are primarily elite with shot creation, tend to be the most valuable and highest paid. Most superstars are elite at generating their own offense and shots.

Stretch bigs, rim defenders, spot up shooters etc are discussed here.

Lengthy small forwards with elite defense and elite offensive skills are the most impactful in my opinion (Pippen, Kawhi, LeBron are best examples). Those types of players can adapt to guarding any type of offense.

Its nice to have big men like Gobert anchor your defense through a long reg season. However, they are way more likely to get destroyed in a bad matchup during playoffs and essentially become worthless.

The data does have shot creators who play D as pretty much the best. Pippen though wasn't Kawhi in isolation etc.

if shot creation is ooking at offensive load then yea it's obvious it's easily the most important or at least expensive skillser. Your including both scoring and playmaking.
Even for a microwave score r type, it seems you need someone who can shoot and playmake a bit. The isolation bucket is below guys who can move around. kind of depressing about vertical spacers, they're starting to lose value. drummond is kind of a dinosaur.

Edit: misinterpreted the graphic. Nvm about rim runners. drummond's still a bit of a dinosaur but someone younger who's better at finishing deserves a bit more money from teams

Top paid players in NBA right now are high scoring guards able to create own shots: Curry, Harden, Westbrook

Kawhi wasn't Pippen as a creator/passer either. Creation for teammates counts as much as creating for yourself on the scoreboard. Kawhi was the better offensive player but people keep boiling offense down to individual scoring. Ask the Bulls how "good" their offense functioned without Pippen's playmaking. :oldlol:

According to that rim protectors who can pass are easily the most overpowered players in game and it’s not surprising.

Draymond was elite in both in his prime.

Easily a top 3 player at worst in 2016. He was in a floor spacer as well that year. So he’s all combined at the highest levels.

I'd agree impact wise 2016 he was INSANE.
