Furthermore, James shot only 34% from the field when guarded by Leonard. James shot an even lower percentage (20%) when Leonard contested his shot.

Clearly, Leonard had a direct effect on James’ ability to take over the game. This could be the sole reason the Miami Heat were never able to gain control of the series. If you ask me, Leonard may be considered a true “LeBron Stopper”.

Owned him in 2014. Now in 2020 playoffs kawhi can solidify himself as LeBron's dad.

this video sums it up nicely

Lebron's 2014 Finals numbers get heavily overrated

1.1 points/minute down 15+ points
0.65 points/minute within 15 points
51 of his 141 points scored down 15+ points

Even this year in the 3 matchups it's not pretty for LeBron H2H. Kawhi also shoots 75% when guarded by Lebron. I can't wait for the playoffs man. I expect to lose tonight probably with Lou/Trez and maybe even Bev out. I think Lakers will want it more. In a series though ? Clips in 6, maybe 5.

There are way too many picks and force switches nowadays for Kawhi to be his primary defender. So I can't see that happening.

soo, why couldnt he always contest his shot?

lol

34% is quite alright considering these are VERY selective spurts and a minimal sample size.

probably like 8 shots or sumthin lol

Are there any numbers that actually verify that claim? That site doesn't provide them, and I haven't been able to find them anywhere else

The closest thing I found was this ESPN article after Game 3, where they claimed LeBron was 12/18 with Kawhi defending him through that point in the series

https://www.espn.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/91407/kawhi-leonard-wreaking-havoc-on-lebron

And while this doesn't provide that specific info either, this is still a really well done, comprehensive breakdown, definitely worth a read

Is this a real question? Do you even watch games? Did you watch those finals?

He couldn't always gaurd and contest lebron because miami did everything they could to set screens and get kawhi off lebron and get a worse defender on him. This did work alot but the extra 6 to 9 seconds it took miami to get the switch they wanted disrupted them and totally took them out of there offense. Either way they were at a disadvantage. If they dont switch bron is being gaurded by someone who clearly bothers him and he dosnt shoot well against. If they do get the switch it takes up precious time on the shot clock which impacts their offense.

This is just basic shit that most bron stans either cant comprehend or just chose to ignore.

He's in denial about daddy Kawhi, he will get over it eventually.

Don't forget the 2019 east finals:
Bucks offense when everyone else guarded Giannis: 110.7
Bucks offense when Kawhi guarded Giannis: 88.0

So Kawhi locked up Lebron and Giannis, that's 6 mvps out of the last 13, nearly half!

Today he bullied Anthony Davis and ran right through him. Shook Davis so bad that a few plays later you saw Davis run into the stat boy desk, fall on the ground and leave the game hahahhah

So then LeBron shot 80% against everyone else?

Kawhi didn't shut down Lebron but Lebron didn't have a good finals despite the nice scoring efficiency. Leg cramps and ineffective in Game 1 which the Heat lost down the stretch then couldn't stop getting blown out in Games 3 - 5 and got a lot of his baskets in garbage time. Bron's defense was pretty bad in this series.

That's.. not how it works.

Yes...It is.

If LBJ took 91 shots on 57% for the series and only 20% vs Kawhi (lies but I'll entertain it)

That means he made 52 shots

If he took 25 vs Kawhi and only made 5 (20% bogus claim)

That means he shot 47/66 vs the rest of the Spurs, or 71.2%. But OP lied anyway so who cares

The biggest myth on this board might honestly be in regards to that series. So many people argue "all his points came in garbage time" and it's literally bullshit :lol Over the final 3 games

LeBron scored 36 of his 81 points in the first quarter, that's nearly half his points (44%) that could never be applied to garbage time

And over the final 3 games, during the last 6 minutes of the 4th, LeBron scored ZERO points, he didn't score a single point during what would be considered the universal definition of garbage time

Well then he should have scored more points in the last 6 minutes of those games. What a choke job

Haha +1, I love their hater logic.

If LBJ scores

Late = "It was garbage time!"

Early = "He should have saved it for the clutch!"

My bad. My memory must have failed me and I confused it with another series when I said garbage time. Looking at the 2014 Finals, Lebron was actually terrible offensively in 4th quarters in several games that were well within reach.

Game 1: Heat up 4 at the end of 3rd. Lebron scores 2 points and has 0 assists in the 4th. This is the leg cramp game. Spurs win by 15 points.

Game 2: Spurs up 1 at the end of 3rd. Lebron scored 8 points and has 1 assist in the 4th. Heat win by 2 points.

Game 3: Spurs up 11 at the end of 3rd. Lebron scored 4 points and had 1 assist in the 4th. Spurs win by 19 points.

Game 4: Spurs up 24 at the end of 3rd. Spurs up 18 with 9:06 left. Lebron scored 0 points and had 0 assists in the 4th. Spurs win by 21 points.

Game 5: Spurs up 19 at the end of the 3rd. Spurs up 14 with 10:33 left. Lebron scored 4 points and had 2 assists in the 4th. Spurs win by 17 points.

Lebron had 18 points in the 4th quarters of all the games in the series. He had a good 4th in Game 2 which the Heat won... but only 10 points in the 4th quarters in the four losses if which Game 1/3/5 were within reach in the 4th quarter.

And of course he didn't play good defense in the series.

King of stat padding and then disappearing in the 4th.

This is a so called goat.
And this wasn't even the series JJ and Terry bullied him :roll:
