View Full Version : I'm sorry but this NBA Championship doesn't count as a full chip

The season ended a long time ago in March and we are in July now, almost August. This is more of an exhibition. It's not a full 82 game season either. And then you have guys like Lebron that worked out in the pandemic in his own gym, while others were more concerned about their lives. It's not an equal playing field. Plus he got so much time to rest up and he needs the rest more because of his age. So this gives him an advantage.
This season is more like an experiment, an exhibition. There's no fans in these arenas. People are scared for their lives. Cases are up every single day. In history when people look back, 2020 will be the corona season and it won't be taken as seriously. Today's game felt more like an exhibition. The real season ended a long time ago.
Being generous, this can maybe count as half a ring. In other words, an asterisk. That's no matter who wins whether it's the Clippers, Rockets, or whoever.

Preparing the excuses already. Pretty sure I saw you calling out the Lakers fans for doing that before the game

Says the guy who never played a single professional basketball game in his damn life.
A soon to be back-to-back MVP has more credibility than your crying ass. "Toughest championship in the toughest environment, indeed!"
STFU! please and enjoy the rest of the season in peace.

Whew, only 1 Laker victory in and the panic button has been hit. If the Lakers were to win this years championship, it is to be ranked 2nd on the greatest of all time list.

What's the 1st?
On topic - no, it is the same chip as every other, everybody in the same conditions and the best/healthiest/luckiest will win just like it always happens.

I believe the consensus as the #1 championship to be the one won by the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers.

There is no way it's a consensus. That was a fine win, but it was also tainted by injuries and suspensions.
Any Lakers/Celtics win in the 80's with both powerhouse teams going at each other in full force is easily better.

You just can't count this championship as a full ring. You can say that you won the Covid Tournament or 2020 Tournament. It just shouldn't be added to traditional NBA championships. It should be a separate accolade like an olympic medal even.

There's no such thing as a half "chip" or an asterisk "chip". Nobody in the real world cares about that stuff.

Long as theres no homecourt or traveling, it is the opposite actually.
20s ring will be one of the strongest ever.

Plus the time off gave nearly every team a chance to get 100% healthy.

For sure.
It is weird hearing all these complaints over the restart. Everyone I talk with want sports back, and yesterday, the feedback was all positive.
Gotta wonder if the nancies whining are even legit basketball/sports fans.

You know damn well you'd be saying asterisk as well if the Lakers were going to miss the playoffs like they did last year.

It’s only an asterisk if LeBron wins.

Yep that is the answer, and there absolutely won't be an asterisk if the Lakers lose, especially in the finals. All the people that will claim this title doesn't count if the Lakers win the title will bring up "3-7" until the end of time if the Bucks beat the Lakers.
The asterisk is purely a Lebron hater thing.
