Chris Paul was ranked 4th in IGN's possible NBA 2K8 cover players. Number 3 was Tim Duncan, Number 2 was Lebron James and Number 1 was Dwight Howard.

Why he'll be on the cover… Everyone loves Chris. The guy just has that certain star charisma about him, and I think big things are in his future endorsement-wise. Besides, when he won the NBA Street Homecourt tournament, he said his goal was to always be on the cover of a videogame. Maybe 2K can make his dream come true.

Why he won't… His actual quote was: "Hopefully after this, the gaming companies will see how much I enjoy to play, how good I am at their games, and maybe one day EA will put me on the cover. That's a goal of mine, and as much as I play videogames, it's something I've always wanted, to see my face on the cover of an EA Sports videogame. Hopefully it will happen some day soon." As you can see, he was talking about EA Sports, but this was at an EA party that he was being paid to attend. He was just walking the company line and I'm sure if 2K came calling, he'd be down. But still, like the Gilbert quote about 2K, once these things get out there, do you want people bringing them back up?

I bet the NBA would kind of nudge them to do this they are fighting an uphill battle trying to win back New Orleans. There's no real reason for a player who didn't make the playoffs or all-star game to be on the cover.

As far as CP goes, people will remember him again next year he will have a breakout season if most of this roster is healthy unlike last season

Paul is a damn good player and a really marketable player at that. He won ROY and is always doing good things in the communities (not just in New Orleans). Maybe 2ksports also think he'll have a really good 3rd season and decided he would be a good choice as their cover athlete. Paul being the guy and the player that he is is good enough reason for him to be on that cover.

They should put Iggy on it. Nah im just playin but i like that they are showing Chris Paul some love. I usually play with him on the game because i love his style in real life. Maybe 2K is trying to go in a different direction and put up-and-comers on the cover instead of the superstars like EA.

Are they as marketable as Paul? Are they franchise type players? Being runaway ROY is reason enough for Paul to make that cover. Brandon Roy may be on NBA 2K9. Who knows?
