View Full Version : Michael Porter Jr. putting up big games in Disney NBA Bubble

At the half, the Thunder lead the Nuggets 51-50.

It hasn't been the best performance by either team, as both squads are shooting below 42% FG.

But the standout so far is young Nuggets small forward Michael Porter Jr, who in the first half shot 7-of-9 for 20 points, nine rebounds, one steal and one block in just under 20 minutes of play.

The Nuggets are missing a number of key players: Will Barton, Gary Harris and Jamal Murray are all out.

The Thunder are without Dennis Schroder and Terrance Ferguson.

There's a reason why he was considered the top high school player his senior year. He has a Durant-esque combo of agility/coordination and length. OF course he's not anywhere near KD as a shooter, but he's really good at finishing around the rim through contact.

Give him less than 2 years IMO.. Doncic is solid but has no more ceiling... Zion has ceiling but already has Fat/injury issues..

The former HS POTY MPJ is finally healthy and getting his chance to start...

Anyone dare going against the current and agree with me?? Or are you guys all sheep??

It is actually not a HUGE outlandish stretch tbh... I think if he didn't have a major back injury he quite easily could've been the #1 pick.. I've always said it would be a huge shame if he never gets healthy because I think he is super talented. I've said I think he would've been a multiple time all-star easily, he has every tool to be. Great to see the Nuggets starting him, I saw that the other day and was excited to see if it continued, and it did today. To me, he just has "it". Like I thought with Doncic, and Zion.

I mean are lukas numbers likely to get just a ton better? probably not, because they are already all time great numbers, but luka definitely has a higher ceiling than hes already shown(he just turned 21 of course he hasnt reached his ceiling) and what he is now, is already better than porter's ceiling because of his ability to initiate an offense something porter has never shown at any level.

I'm high on Porter Jr, but I dunno if his ceiling is higher than either of them 2. If all stay injury free than it's a good future for the NBA, that's all I know. Should have some good rivalries.

Hypothetically speaking if mpj was 100% healthy coming out of college in 2018, how do you think the lottery would have gone?

Does Phoenix take him #1?
Or #2 to kings?
Where does he land?

And if so how would the rest of the lottery shake out?

2018 lottery
1) Ayton (Phoenix)
2) Bagley (Kings)
3) doncic (Dallas)
4) jjj (Memphis)

Not even close to true. That being said I'm still furious at the Clippers passing up MPJ to get Robinson, whom they traded a year later. MPJ was the consensus pick at 13 to us, and we passed on him due to his back. I get the risk, but not factoring injuries he had top 3 pick talent. You HAVE to take a risk there.

If he continued the hype, the whole Durant comparisons, and absolutely slayed out at college level which I believed he would have... He would have been the #1 option at Missouri quite easily... You could have assumed he'd have had at least 25/8... Does Phoenix risk 2007 repeating itself? Is Ayton more dominant than Oden was? I would say no... When the league is still quite superstar forward heavy... Who's not excited about a tandem of Booker and the next KD? The Mavs always take Doncic, Kings get Ayton... I'd say Bagley falls to 4th at the very least, maybe even 6th. Everyone after 6th has kinda been irrelevant, Shae-Gilgeous has been good.

Another thing about Doncic and his potential MVP down the road.. The NBA is a business and They want and need super Stars to promote. Luca is already receiving the special treatment from the referees, that and his usage rate all off the charts, we may very well get MVP, but doesn't make an necessarily better.. Perfect example is Kchobe Bryant and shaq have won 1 mvp each, while high while high usage Steve nash won 2

But after only 2 games starting (which is a ridiculously small sample size) I see enough "potential" that there can't be possibly anyone who wouldn't take MPJ over Ingram.... Ingram looks so "peaked already" and suffers from such massive inconsistencies.. While Porter is looking like the Star his "potential' was said to be before the injuries..

I said when Denver drafted him, that was a gamble with such a huge upside. The bad teams didn't wanna risk him but a good team like Denver had nothing to lose, didn't really need him if he ended up being good. He will fit in nicely with that group.

I always thought he was going to be an amazing prospect before that crippling back injury. Probably would've been a number 1 pick. I honestly saw and see more upside in him than Zion, and Ja Morant.

Hit some 3s off the dribble. Showed good off ball movement, a nice midrange j and lefty finish inside.

He got that talent. I can see him signing with the Chicago Bulls once he becomes a free agent.

Jokic is and will be MPJ's perfect teammate.. Great player who passes the SHET out of the ball. MPJ can't get that combination anywhere else..

He played AAU Ball with Trae Young, there is another level to Porters game when he is paired with a dynamic point guard.
