We are witness

Only these five players have been able to lead the league in scoring at least once and assists at least once.

The truest and most astounding offensive threats we have ever seen. Amazing.

Wilt never led the league in APG, just total assists. Big O averaged close to 10 apg in '68, but missed around 15 games.

WEst basically played against Bill Russell's prime Celtics for his career...

Pretty crazy that Archibald led the NBA in scoring and assists in the same season, but his team missed the playoffs.

Archibald is forgotten, when you google Nate Archibald, the Nate Archibald was gossip girl is the first result. :oldlol:

not a full season

also James Harden!

LeBron has 648 assists after 62 games. He has another 7 in this game so if he gets one more for the game that brings us to 655 in 63 games (10.41 apg).

Tray Young is #2 with 558 in 60 games. Assuming they both played 78 games total for the season

LeBron would need 15 more games to reach 78
Trae would need 18 more games to reach 78

If LeBron only got 8.3 assists for the last 15 games = 120 + 655 = 779.5 / 78 = 10 apg
In order for Trae to get to 780 assists from 558 in 18 games he would need to get...12.3 per game

NOT happening :lol He has only a 12 assist game 1 every 5 games, and he has to do more (12.3) for all 18 games WHILE LeBron also gets 2 less per game for his 63 game average. NOPE

The category champ back then was determined by total assists, points, etc.--similar to how every other sport does it (e.g., most rushing yards not rushing yards per game in football). At some point the NBA changed it to per game.

Kevin Mchale has also been replaced by a Glee actor on google. It's just a matter of there's someone a lot more famous, not necessarily forgotten.

Although Nate is better known as Tiny Archibald.

Wilt was considered the leader in assists at the time because they did what football and baseball did....award the leader in totals. Kareem took issue when they changed it saying nobody even knows the per game leaders in any other sport and you should reward the consistency it takes to lead in totals. He and Elvin Hayes had a beef over it because one of them lost a scoring “title” over average when the other had the most points. Don’t remember where I read that but probably one of Kareems books. I have a couple.

6911 points (1st) and 12 game winners (1st) is greatest choker :lol I'd hate to hear what others who did far less are called.

Hockey too. Basketball is the outlier. It hasn't become an issue since usually the leader in both is the same player in basketball but if football switched to "per game", given the frequency of injuries and the short season, the rushing and receiving champs would probably shift fairly often. Look at receiving in football in recent years (going back to 05'):

2016: Julio Jones per game, Hilton in total yards
2014: Beckham per game, Brown in total yards
2010: A. Johnson per game, Lloyd in total yards
2008: Smith per game, A. Johnson in total yards
2007: A. Johnson per game, Wayne in total yards
2005: Boldin per game, Smith in total yards

That is a change six times in an eleven year span.

In rushing the obvious one is Elliott a few years ago when he led per game but Hunt won the crown as Elliott was suspended for six games. There was a year where LT won the rushing title but Peterson had a higher per game average.

One benefit of switching back to total points/assists/rebounds/etc. would be it would discourage some stars from "load managing."

How lame, some fakkit changed the query result to the wrong answer.

In Kareem's most stat-crazy season, his team missed the playoffs.
