The Blazers having Jusuf Nurkic and Zach Collins back, while the Grizzlies just lost Jaren Jackson Jr for the season = the Blazers would make a much better first-round opponent vs the Lakers in the playoffs.

The NBA doesn't want Portland because they know Lakers would be in serious danger of a first round exit.
Like good god, what if Hood and Ariza were with the team? Blazers could be a 1 seed.

1 seed?
Wtf?
Saying had the Blazers been healthy all year long.
Lillard, Cj, Hood, Collins, Nurkic
Bench: Simons, Trent Jr, Melo, Ariza, Whiteside
The only player on that roster that isn't starter quality is Simons.
The Blazers on paper were very very good before injuries.

:lol :lol Same
Rodney Hood was the key to pull a 9 seed to 1 :lol COME ON ROSE CITY
Either the blazers or spurs are fine. They've been contending in the postseasons for how many straight years already.

um...no. thats not how it works. first injuries are a thing for all teams. if portland gets to be 100% healthy, then everyone else does too.
second, who cares about starter quality - what does that even mean? those players could start on some teams? at least one team?
third, zero chance portland would be the #1 seed. they were 29-37 before the shutdown which is .439 win % which translates to a 36 win team. pure lottery. now adding nurkic, ariza and hood vaults them to 55+ wins? in the west? lol dont be a homer.
(not to mention that bringing hurt players back will reduce the effect of the players they replaced - you dont get to keep the best stats of every player all at once)
obviously they would be better (I would even agree to a playoff team) as would any team adding hurt players. but not #1. they would be fighting in that 5-8 range for seeding with a few other teams.
portland fans do this ever year. masters of spin.

Lakers would sweep a young team like pelicans or grizzles in 1st round. A team loaded with veteran players like Blazers would give Lakers a run for the money. I would say blazers have a better 3rd best player then Lakers CJ > Kuzma so maybe there is upset potential if lillard can have a hot series. Clippers should maybe consider throwing the game vs blazers and rest Kawhi/George, that way the blazers at least tire out Lakers.

Definitely love to see them take the 8th spot. Will be tough with the bs schedule the just happened to get. The pelicans have a cakewalk :facepalm

It would be a fun first round series, Portland vs LA.
I don't think Portland is really competing with Memphis anymore for the 8 seed. You can put a fork in the Grizz. They have played like garbage in the bubble and now without Jackson they are only going to lose more games. The Spurs, Pelicans and maybe even the Suns are their competition for the 8 seed at this point.

Like I said before, its obvious the Blazers are the most deserving 8th seed and the 4th-5th best team in the West right now..
And I find their attempt at the 9th seed admirable.
But the schedule is cruel.
Pels will make it.

Pels road is wide open.
Not sure if Portland can suprass Memphis with their schedule

Pels had the tougher schedule starting out & beat Portland 4 - 0, they deserve the easier schedule. Pretty sure Nurkic wouldn't have even played in the RS if not for the shutdown.

this is true. without the shutdown portlands playoff chances were 0. now they are pretty good.
