The amount of awful calls I see in every game I watch is insane. So many touch or completely phantom fouls.

It's the most frustrating watching a defender player amazing defense and shut down a player, only for that player to completely flail or flop up a ridiculous shot that has no chance of going in and the refs bails them out. Seriously it's a big negative on watching basketball. It's like the refs have become scared of contact themselves and get nervous at the sight of good defense.

They get real soft when star players force a call in a must score situation (e.g Lillard at the end against LAC)

Its the league. The refs are just calling the game the way the league wants.

The "league" doesn't mandate phantom calls. A lot of these refs don't have a clue what good defense is.

This I agree with... so far they get a D- for me...

Well they dont mandate phantom calls but They've made so many defensive rule changes that you basically cant make any contact anymore. Refs are calling the game the way the league wants. They want more offense so the rules and calls are to discourage guys from playing defense so scoring will go up. It should get better come playoff time. It usually does.

It's because the rules themselves don't make any sense. They have an impossible job.

Bump for Porzingis getting ejected over nothing.

Reffing in basketball is extremely difficult. Every year of my life people have complained about the refs. Go become a ref if you think you can do a better job.

Technical fouls on Porzingis didn't need to be called. That's not a question of questionable charge or touch foul.

Seriously, the protections that jump shooters get are RIDICULOUS. Disgusting rule book with that crap. WAY too many offensive players completely jumping into the defender and somehow getting calls.

We just saw a playoff game literally ruined and decided by awful refereeing and not the actual basketball players.

they're trying to save the league from yet another embarassing performance by the "MVP" but that Middleton call was way too much even for them

Dude that call AND the call on Giannis at the end. I thought that was an even worse call. Butler had already shot the ball, no time on the clock, and Giannis barely touches Butler and they call a foul?
