Howard was the better defensive player. I'd take Anthony Davis because of his scoring. And also an elite defensive player.

easily Dwight Howard; at his peak he was a top three defensive player that's ever played, he was just a little bit lacking in his offensive skill set that he was trying to improve under the guidance of the great Patrick Ewing

Before Dwight hurt his back he had all the makings of a Hall of Famer; he was reliably great every night.

This is a joke right

Davis’s offense is SOOOO MUCH greater than Dwight's in there primes . Dwights d is better than Davis and effected the game more but not by humongous gap, good size gap though..

Davis’s offense is just to much greater ,but I get why guys are picking Dwight(nostalgia is playing a part here somewhat)

Prime Dwight's defense and athleticism were crazy.

AD and it's not even close.

Pair him with any superstar with killer instinct and it's an automatic title.

Dwight is the better defensive player and rebounder,AD better offensive player, slight edge to Davis due to being a better two-way player.

Dwight Howard beat LeBron James head to head and took a team to the NBA Finals.

I mean how confident are you that Anthony Davis would do the same given the same situation I guess.

Only thing stopping AD is his injury prone body,I honestly believe he would have done better in that finals series against the Lakers than Dwight did.

Dwight never could reach his full potential as a basketball player but unlike L36ron he actually entered in the slam dunk contest and hit it out the park.He went to Hakeem for lessons and still didn't have a real post game he mostly relied on that little baby hook shot,he'd practice shooting a dozen shots at the gym but was still poor at it.The biggest piece that he was missing was the competitiveness,he would have been way more dominant as a center if he had the post skills and the competitive nature of a Shaquille O'Neal.

AD, easily. Dwight was a better defensive player at his peak, but Davis is so much better offensively.

Prime Dwight Howard was Prime David Robinson level, and even so, based on playoff numbers, you take Anthony Davis

Hard to argue against that Finals berth.

Davis. Similar defensive players but Howard's edge in defense doesn't offset Davis' much greater superiority on offense.

Prime howard had limited scoring skills

Yeah AD is way better, better all around games, free throw, shoot the 3 ball well, his defense is is actually not too far behind of Howard.
