Seems to be two lines of thought.

If you’re the star and they suck it’s your job to make the team play well. You’re being paid. Do your job and think of your fans.

and

You only have so long. Don’t waste time on shit teams. If the fans liked you personally they would be your fans anywhere.

Note that I don’t mean people leaving good or great teams. We aren’t talking Lebron leaving the Heat or Durant leaving the warriors. That’s obviously a whole other thing.

My question is when in your life have you felt a guy needed to just walk? Demand out. Whatever needs to be done. I ask because of recent talk about Booker and a few minutes ago I read a thing on how Fox is just wasting time on the Kings. Would you say a team “owes” stars good support or do they just owe you a check?

Kevin Garnett is the best recent example perhaps. His team trades Ray Allen for Marbury to begin with. Later when Stephon is pissed he’s traded for already injured Terrell Brandon who shockingly....was still injured. They illegally signed Joe Smith and lost 5 years of first round picks after using the last one they had to get Brandon a good backup since he was already showing signs of damage. Took a bust point out of Duke instead of Ron Artest and a few other options. So they don’t have a pick for years and when they finally get one they take Mccants, Brandon Roy who they traded for Randy Foye, and then Corey Brewer. So KG is 30 and out there with:

So....should he have demanded out at some point? He already took a massive paycut. The year he won mvp he came back and took I think 15 million a season less than he could have. Still wouldn’t extend Cassell who turned out to have a little more in the tank in LA. Traded him for Jaric and what turned out to be a 10th pick years later.

Was KG being too loyal to Minny or was he just doing his job?

Should other young players get out when there are signs of trouble or is it their job not to allow the team to be bad?

Kg. Mitch Richmond. Guys now like KAT and Booker.

Should they get out because the teams have been bad or is it the stars fault they are bad to begin with so they need to do their part while the team figures it out?

Bottom line....

When someone says “_____ needs to get outta there” do you ever think “Yea....they don’t deserve him” or do your eyes roll every time?

whenever they want. For those who want to stay and try to better the franchise thats great. For those who dont want to take the chance that their franchise is gonna put the right pieces around them thats fine too.

KG seemed like he was worried more about money then legacy. Why waste your entire prime? Wow. He had 1 great year in 2008 but then broke down in 2009 with a major injury and was never the same again. So we only got 1 prime year from him outside of Twolves.

7 years. What superstar has been unfair to the team that drafted him? Lebron won 2 mvps and took the Cavs to the finals. He had a right to leave after that or he may never have won a title. They wouldn't have got Kyrie had he stayed. Maybe eventually a star free agent signs with them.

Even Durant. I hate where Durant went and he did have a superstar teammate, but the guy gave OKC 9 years. Why should he be forced to stay there longer?

if the player believes that the team is poorly ran, the player should want out immediately, the issue here is that, the player will soon realize, it's not just the team he is on that is poorly ran, the alternatives will generally also most likely be poorly ran as well. And the well oiled machines most likely are in the scenario where even if they were willing to make the attempt, they most likely aren't able to create a balanced trade without more time being played out.

it's not that they shouldn't want out, but they should progress the relationship in a manner where they are the face of the franchise, but at the same time, even when they do leave, it's on amicable terms.

Sure, it doesn't sound like a winning formula from the companies perspective, but if you create the office environment where people are able to relish their talents, you'll be lead to success, on the basis of attraction.
