There is no debate between Lebron and Lillard.. Lillard is the better player at this point.. The guy is amazing..
Luka is a great player but he has choked a lot this season.. Still my second fav player..

The problem here is that Lebron is 6-8 and scores with ease. It’s much harder for Dame to do this every game. So Lebron is better but Damian Lillard is still elite.

I dont know about that.. Dame is scoring with ease.. I mean the game looks easy to him. To me he is the best player in the game at this point... Only from what I have seen in the bubble.. Really tough cuz a guy like Lebron just got older and probably slower during that down time, Kawhi also looks slower and not at his usual self. So for me Dame is the best player.. The Lakers won't beat the Blazers if they cant shoot.. They better start making open shots cuz Portland will beat them easier than people think.. DAME is on a mission and confidence is the biggest weapon.. AND HE HAS IT..

He has been amazing the entire season.. And he has taken to another level exactly when it has been needed..

That’s 3 60 point games this season. I suspect by the end of next year both he and Harden will have more than either Kobe or Jordan had for their careers. Who would have thought that if the NBA set out to make it easier to score great players would have more incredible games....
That said....he’s obviously still a beast. Rule changes don’t give you 35 foot range. It’s just hard to put so much that happens now in context. Luka out here having Wilt Chamberlain nights and all.
Its just tough.

Dame is a cold blooded mother****er. There's no doubt about that.
Shout out Melo too. He got them "sure", what is now non-existant, poast buckets when they needed them, and brought competitive fire.

Yeah. He's taking it up a notch. The loss against the Clippers still hurt, but they're on a good trajectory.
Cj McCollum been playing like shit, recently. Needs to step it up.

That's a great way of putting it. Dame has to channel his inner 2012 game 6 Lebron just to make the playoffs. Lebron over a long stretch is so good he could do that without entering that do or die mode.

He's out there carving up defenses with ease. He calls for the screen so far from the basket that the defense has to make some really tough choices.
A slight freeze/pause from the big and Dame is getting a layup. Go behind the screen and you're getting roasted from 3.

Damn, what a scoring machine at 61 points. Dame really has to put the pedal to the metal in order to produce a win for portland. I'm still wondering when will he get a scoring title.
Lillard seems to be the antithesis in terms of team loyalty and stance on forming superteams

You could absolutely make the case for Lillard being better than Bron this season.
Me personally, I think it's easier just to put them on the same "tier" of player so far this year (not in the top 3, but definitely in the top 7).
Then again, we really don't know how guys will play in the playoffs. Some players/teams still look really rusty, while other guys seem to be playing their best ball in this "open gym" setting.

I saw the playoff game he eliminated Harden at the buzzer. The playoff game he eliminated PG-Westbrook in last year. Multiple scoring bursts this year. And now tonights 60 point performance. All of that is to say, Damian Lillard can score with any "pointguard" ever. Obviously he is one of the best scorers period, but vs his position, Lillard is scoring with anyone.

you could but you could say the same for about 3 or 4 players every regular season. Come playoffs its a different story because Lebron dosnt play his best until playoffs. He's almost on cruise control during regular season. So yeah dame maybe played on his level during the reg season but he's not on brons level.

Agreed, Bron23. You can tell in his body langauge that he is not in "playoff mode". Laughing and joking around yesterday during the final seconds of a close game. When it comes down to it, postseason play separates the top talent.

Yeah not going to argue it strongly, and haven't looked at his stats compared to other pointguards. Just my intuition based on the eye test. What other pointguard scorers are on a level above?

Trae Young is scoring more than Dame ever has in his second season. We just kinda forgot since we are real selective in who’s 2020 numbers we choose to give credit for.
Trae might come out and score 35 a game next year the way shits going. He’s probably 5 years from his prime. He put up 31/12 and 32/10 in the two months before the shutdown.

I mean, there probably isn't a ton, but just off the top of my head I'd rather have Iverson, Curry, Kyrie, Oscar Robertson, maybe a few others.
But I also don't really view Lillard as a "point guard". He's definitely just an undersized shooting guard playing a modern era "point guard". I guess the team is combo guard? I don't view Lillard like I do Iverson, Nash, Chris Paul, Gary Payton, etc.
CTbasketball92

Dame isn't better than LeBron, but I think he's clearly reached a level that Anthony Davis hasn't.
People complain about his playoff performances, but at least he's always able to get his team there no matter what.
He's able to create his own shot at will, he's got burst in his legs that never gives out and he can get to the line a lot, he can make shots from everywhere.
He's averaging 30/8/5 on 63 TS%, and is the first player since 1973 with 3 60 point games in one season.
I think people look at Dame like he's below the truly elite guards but he's clearly put himself up there with almost anyone in recent memory offensively.
His ability to kind of do it on command is ridiculous. This is a scoring season someone like Dwade and Kobe never had (I know the three point revolution didn't unfold yet, but still).
Definitely a top 6 or 7 player.

I wouldn't say that, but he is the best scorer in the league. Hopefully Portland can close the deal and matchup with the Lakers. That is the series we all want to see. It is weird they were hyping up Tubby out of shape Zion vs Lebron instead of Dametime.

Trae has the worst DRTG on the 28th ranked defense in the league and negative overall splits. Dame outranks him efficiency wise 125 to 114 in ORTG.

That's the difference between lotto and wild wild west playoff team.
The difference is the supporting cast. The only reason why Portland is relevant now is because the team is healthy, when the roster was depleted Dame was losing just like Trae. Portland wouldn't even make the play in game without Melo who hit several clutch buckets in several games. Trae's game is different than Dame, that's why Trae is 2nd in assist as well as a top 5 scorer. Dame provides leadership, scores on every level and is a great closer which every higher echelon team needs.
With that said what he is doing scoring wise is not uncommon in this Era. The goal of the league was to increase scoring and eliminate the physicality of Basketball and they have succeeded.

Very few good posters are left. Off the top of my head:

costalmaker - Again, another dude, who I might not agree with, but I respect him. Discusses only ball with no BS.

southbeachtalent - All this trolling has reduced him, but he still posts and is a very good one.

4 months had passed since play was suspended and the re-start. That's the equivalent of the season ending in June and a new one starting in October. For all purposes most guys have off-season legs even if they've been training the last few months. Lillard seems to have picked up right where he left off but he has wayyyy less wear on the tires. Lebron in the last few years tends to pace himself and pick up steam as the season progresses. I would say the time off did more harm in terms of natural atrophy for a player of his age/mileage than if play had never stopped.

This thread was always an overreaction, even if LeBron was a diminished scorer he was still easily a top 5 player. It looks like he might not be that diminished as a scorer, idk Blazers have no one to guard him.
All that said, this isn't really an even matchup and Dame has essentially been in the playoffs for two weeks. Give him credit, he's a top 8 or 9 player at worst. But they can't beat the lakers.
