TBF, those teams were always (from '80-'91) a top 10 defense outside one season and he hovered around #7, if I'm not mistaken. Cooper, AC, KAJ, etc..

Only if you can adapt your defensive philosophies. It happens often in series, where you start out elite and then all of a sudden a star on the other team figures you out. If you can find a way to change your ways and prevent him from dominating you (gameplan), than yes. Otherwise I don't give a crap about how great you were on defense in the regular season.
