Dude really might be the best player in the league.

He had almost 5 months off from ball, and comes right back putting up 35.3/9.2/8.7 with 3 steals on 72.9 TS%.

I don't like his playstyle, but damn if it isn't effective.

How many guys can put up 35/7/7 over two seasons?

He is without a doubt the most underrated star of this era, partly due to his OKC stint.

Since leaving OKC, he has played 611 games and put up 29.6/6/7.7 on 61.1 TS%, 26.8 PER and 8.1 BPM.

He'll be one and done in playoffs.

Not because he's a choker or lacks mental toughness but because he's a below average athlete.

That's actually pretty crazy. Since Harden left OKC, he's averaging 30ppg. :lol

He career numbers would be insane if he didn't have to start as a 6th man.

It's gonna be interesting seeing harden and the rockets how they would upset or give the lakers a run for their money in the second round

Definitely underappreciated. Ironically some of it is he is a victim of his own success. He goes 35/9/9 and it isn't newsworthy since he has set the bar so high.

But I do find it hard to sleep on someone who does things like this.

From today's game...just a filthy hesitation and first step. And then he'll hit you with a 30+ foot step-back the next time down.

Made him look like a role player in comparison. :lol

lol This is so cringe worthy. Hit is up when he actually does something in the playoffs. Any success he's had in the playoffs comes off the back of teammates and not himself.

It's the same old story with this guy.He puts up cheap numbers in the reg season while playing next to another star, come playoff time when the refs aren't giving him the calls he chokes.

Yes, the 5 month break, threat of covid still, and the bubble with no fans or homecourt advantage is an asterisk.

That doesn't erase what Harden has done this year pre-covid, last year, or his entire stint with Houston.

Also all the people claiming "he's done nothing in the playoffs". Please tell me which player you replace Harden with and they win a chip? You gonna say the same thing about Charles Barkley or Karl Malone?

Since joining Houston, Harden has averaged 28.2ppg/7assists with 2 steals on 48.4 EFG% in the playoffs.

Wanna know what Kobe did in his prime (01-12)? 28.5ppg/5.2 assists with 1.5 steals on 48.4 EFG% in the playoffs.

The years he threw away 4th quarters maybe? I could compile a list of players, but there are too many to name.

Also, again tell me which Rockets team is winning a chip since 2013 by replacing Harden? Who is beating those Spurs/Heat/Warriors/Cavs teams? Maybe MJ or peak Lebron/Shaq?

Skipped that over because its not important. You can appreciate his numbers. I do too. But Harden's also in a system where numbers are a given. Nash, Amare, Kobe, Westbrook. Even the role players ate. There are a couple dozen perimeter players all time that would've played better than Harden in those waning moments. The anti-clutch narrative didn't appear out of thin air.

It's not about winning a chip, it's about him underperforming consistently in the playoffs while having some literal WOAT level games with his season on the line. I agree with you that most players wouldn't win a chip in his place, but this isn't an issue of team result, the criticism comes from his individual performance in the playoffs

Harden's regular season stats say he's a top 5 player ever, but the GOATs kinda maintain their play through the postseason. People like CP3, Charles Barkley and others in that tier played way better that.

For me Harden's done everything he can in the regular season. I also think that there are potentially other players who could average these stats to a degree if they played in this hyper system. I'll give him credit for kind of pioneering this style though. Bottom line is he has to be better in the postseason otherwise none of this matters.

It's simple. He wins a championship this year a lot of the criticisms vanish.

Terry Stotts just decided to double him and it worked both times. He had two meh games in two losses to Portland. So no, he's not even close to the best player in the NBA from what I've seen.

He is without a doubt the most underrated star of this era, partly due to his OKC stint.

Since leaving OKC, he has played 611 games and put up 29.6/6/7.7 on 61.1 TS%, 26.8 PER and 8.1 BPM.

Hes really not though. With the exception of last year he consistently gets considerably worse come playoffs. His fg% and 3pt% drop dramatically and on top of that hes still mediocre defensively. It be different if he ramped up his defense to make up for his offensive but he dosnt. Hes also has more than one choke job in big elimination games.

Dont get me wrong dude is amazing. Its just that some of his success is based on the rules and era hes in. He manipulates the rules better than anyone. So much so that defeders are tentative to gaurd him. Its not until deep in the playoffs where guys are allowed to be more physical defensively where we see harden actually face real defense.
