View Full Version : I really liked TJ Ford. Saw him as a smaller defenseless Jason Kidd type.

I wanted him to stay healthy and thrive and all. I liked how he got the Bucks running and he was the only reason I had the least bit of faith in the Bosh Raptors for a moment or two. I wanted to come in here and talk about his game and what we may have been robbed of....but all I can think about is these gotdamn shorts:

First picture is a reason to ban him.

Based on that pic alone should've known he'd be a bust right off the bat.

He looks like the NBA edition of Barney.

I liked him too. His stats looked terrible, but he was a winner. The ultimate example of a guy whose impact you couldn't quantify (at least, until +/- came around). I have the impression of him averaging like 12/6 on 38/28/70 splits. I have no idea what he actually averaged, but he passed the eye-test big time when healthy.

I wonder if Kidd would be appreciated in this current climate.

Kidd without defense is like Steve Nash without offense... hard to hype that.

I did too. I thought he was going to be a badass. Didn't he land on his neck or some shit.

I thought he was going to be a better version of Damon Stoudemire when the Bucks drafted him.

I remember him killing the Pacers in probably his rookie year and I cant forget thinking how fast he was and the type of pace that he brought to his team.

He probably wore Ray Allen's short. Some Bucks employee probably saw a Allen's short in their locker room. Ray allen was already traded to the Sonics during that time.

Kidd without defense would still be a star. He led the league in assists like 6 times. Nash without offense wouldn’t be in the nba.

The ultra baggy uniform makes him look like a dwarf/midget.

He'd be a star, but not an All-Star. Kidd's shooting was atrocious most nights. He brought that all-world defense, though.

The dude is glass cannon Kyle Lowry, unfortunately. Raptors in mid-00's could have been a lot better with him being healthy all season long.

How can someone play in those? Let alone achieve NBA player status?

He scored 20ppg on back to back finals runs. Yes some of it was off defense turning to offense but not enough that he’d just be a run of the mill good player without his amazing D. Kidd with normal D is still like.....a much faster and more aggressive Mark Jackson maybe? Hard to think of a comparison. This is a pretty normal game for him around his peak:

Like I said he put up 20 a game across 4 series that year. He could find 18-22 points most nights if he had a reason to try. And that was in a much much slower league.

Im not gonna act like Kidd was some amazing scorer but today? I think he could run enough to have a solid 18 a game without forcing the issue. That or go for 15/14 on some Stockton shit.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a player who improved their team's teamwork quite as much as Jason Kidd did. He was a great floor leader.

Lebron James. Cavs have a better roster now compared to his 2018 team, but they still missed the playoffs.
