They never should have fired Monty Williams. He is one of the top coaches in the league and they fired him after he had improved the team.

They really need a coach that's going to make them play D and share the ball... Mark Jackson I don't think would be a good idea...

This was a very fair firing. Some firings are not fair like Kenny Atkinson improving and doing a good job with Brooklyn and getting the axe. Gentry was given 5 years (4 of which included a superstar) and only had one good year. Very rare for a coach to get 5 years in the NBA with that lack of success. He was given way too much credit for the 2015 Golden State Warriors title and it allowed him to get the benefit of the doubt.

Rondo's to blame for that.

Gentry was on his last leg entering the 2017-18 season. But Rondo came in & led the team, both as player & player-coach, to a great season and a playoff series win. Rondo then left for LA and, of course, the Pels were back to being a train wreck. But he saved Gentry's ass that season and got him a contract extension. Gentry owes Rondo a debt of gratitude.
