View Full Version : Can we all agree that MJ beats the 89' Pistons if not for Pippen's 10 on 40%?

Because if we can agree on that, then we've proven that MJ didn't need Pippen or Phil to win the 89' title - Phil wasn't there in 89' and Pippen's 10 points was better off being replaced by someone else
How am I wrong

No sorry bruh. Bulls were up 2-1 and the next 2 games they lost while mj went 23 pts on like 30% shooting and then the next game he scored only 18 points. If mj showed up he could of overcome pips shitty play.
Pip playing better obviously would of helped though

Exactly, they were up 2-1 without a 2nd option
What if they actually had one?.. a sweep no doubt..
And even if the series went deeper, MJ wouldn't be tired because he'd be getting help from a 2nd option...
Heck, lebron got swept (twice) and beaten by record amount (twice), so he would get demolished with 10 on 40% from his 2nd option.. but jordan went 6 tough games and would've undoubtedly won with normal 2nd option help

A actual playoff game is on after months of no sports and you decide to make another copy/paste special that will do nothing but get round all copy/pasting back about 8 shot games and plus/minus and so on....
You two might need a sub forum for the 6 people who still read you repeating yourselves back and forth.

Why would that be a lie? Anyone can go play basketball
Except NBA players... The don't play basketball.. they play a drill... a 3-point drill and if a team doesn't get a three, they get an open layup.. the paint has been cleared.. :yaohappy:... I'm laughing as I type.. basketball my ass lol

Yeah thats a fair point. Maybe they do sweep them with a better pip but it was what it was. Pip didn't play well but mj still could of played much better and probably would of won if he did so hes just as much to blame

McHale vs 87' Pistons... 19 on 63%
Parish vs 87' Pistons..... 16 on 56%
Worthy vs 88' Pistons.... 22 on 49% (FMVP)
Kersey vs 90 Pistons..... 19 on 47%
Pippen vs 89' Pistons.... 10 on 40%
^^^ So anyone could've helped MJ win the title in 89' except Pippen... And Phil wasn't there, so MJ didn't need Pippen or Phil to win in 89'

yeah but you act like mj balled put the last few games. He didnt. The fact is he was up 2-1 and the then played like a bum for the most part after that. You cant put it all on pip.

It's no different than lebron in the 15' Finals - give lebron a normal 2nd option to replace Kyrie, and he wins easily.. and a normal 2nd option takes a load off the 1st option so the 1st option doesn't wear down towards the end like lebron and jordan did

yeah but you keep bringing up lebron like that means something. We all know there has been times where bron underperformed. Thats the point. So has mj. Maybe not as often but he has.

OP just admitted that MJ needed Scottie to carry him.

I mean, LeBron won a championship with the 3rd best player in the league averaging 8.5 on 36%.
Why can't MJ beat a much lesser team with higher production on both offense and especially defense from Scottie?

Jordan had a migraine in Game 5.
No, he was just tired from carrying the load with no 2nd option to help
Pippen only got 10 on 40%, yet the bulls nearly won, so a normal 2nd option contribution would've won it - anyone OTHER than Pippen
So MJ didn't need Pippen to win in 89' (anyone ELSE would've won), and Phil wasn't there in 89', so MJ didn't need either to win (Pippen or Phil)

Compare to the 15' Finals, when Lebron similarly quit mid-series because he was exhausted from having no 2nd option and no help
If you gave 89' MJ or 15' Lebron a normal 2nd option to take a load off, they wouldn't get tired and win the series easily
It's funny because MJ wins in 89' with anyone. EXCEPT pippen's 9.7 on 40%, so MJ didn't need Pippen or Phil to win in 89' (Phil wasn't there yet)

Well Pippen was out in the first minute of game 6 as well. I'd say 1990 is a greater shot if no migraine.

MJ single-handedly got a 2-1 lead by averaging 35.0/7.3/4.3 on 47%... this included 2 straight 40-point games and the game-winner over Rodman - a classic moment against a goat defender.
But he had nothing left going into game 4, which was Pippen's fault for making MJ carry the team for the first 3 games.
So again, Pippen was a bad player that averaged 9.7 on 40%.. If MJ had a normal 2nd option, he would've beaten the Pistons easily - so he didn't need Pippen - he needed anyone OTHER than Pippen.. And Phil wasn't there in 89', so MJ didn't need Pippen or Phil to win the title in 89.

Orly? MJ didnt need his trusty #2 option?
Post MJ's post season record with and without Pippen or you concede with a loss.

How do Cavs do in 2016 without Kyrie or Heat without Wade in 2012 and 2013? How do the Spurs do in 2014? Or the Raptors without Lowry in 2019? or the Mavs without Terry in 2011?
