First game of the bubble I decided to try tuning into.

The product is unwatchable in my opinion.

Just tuned in and it's the 4th quarter.

The NBA wants to quickly get to the main event: Clippers vs Lakers. Corona means no time to waste on character development and side stories.

Just tuned in and it's the 4th quarter.

He had one tech for punching the air on a ref call.

Then on another occasion Luka and Morris got tangled up and Porzingis rushed into the scuffle guns blazing hot. Marc Jackson and Jeff van Gundy both said it was a weak call. Steve Javie said because he did not rush in to "separate or deescalate" the situation but rather as an agitator that he agreed with the call and his second T resuling in a SEE YA LATER.

If a team isn't the "favorite" let's eject one of their players to make it easier for the favorite. Yeah we've seen this before.

I actually agree with Javie. That technical was deserved. It just sucks that it was his second one, and the first tech was bullshit.

Basically Porzingis and the refs both share blame for the unfortunate ejection

"I didn't think it was enough to get technical fouls. I wish Porzingis played...It’s the playoffs man."

- Marcus Morris

"No of course not."

- porzingis on if he should've been ejected

"I don't think it was fair to kick him out of the game, especially in the playoffs."

-doncic on the ejection

case closed

somehow, all it means is you can't really penalize the guys taking advantage of poor ref-ing.

if you read closely, that f*cked up the 3 branches of powers and checks and balances real fast.

Morris was still walking at Luka and KP can't come over to walk into him, when they didnt call shit before for that?

League is a joke

NBA refs are sociopaths

But when people my age tell you the league is soft now you act like its nostalgia. THe league absolutely is soft. By these modern rules Jordan would have been ejected in every game of some of those Knicks series....and thats after the entire Knicks starting 5 went as well.

David Stern didn't want a repeat of Detroit. The league practically turned on a dime at that point. Of course, there were other factors, but that was it. That was the main one. Fighting and aggressive behavior was punished with a heavy hand from thereon out. Period.

I think it was already trending that way anyways... my guess is the NBA considered it bad for business. I don't know.

I guess maybe it's just society becoming progressively softer due to increased wealth, education and technology also.

Rule changes designed to boost scoring and perimeter players have also contributed.

Actually, I would be highly interested if someone were to do a case study of exactly why the NBA has become progressively softer. Would be a good read, as the contributing factors undoubtedly extend beyond the NBA itself. Then again, they still beat the **** out of each other in the NHL.

Long story short? I don't know anything.

It's hard my team went to the final last season and won it. We working on a repeat right now. So I will tune in for a while.

And grow up walking around the internet with a "SATAN" nickname is not a "cool thing".

Morris (vet) walks towards a 21 year old kid looking to intimidate him (that's a tech). Then pushes Porzingis (Tech). His ass should have been ejected too.

He should have known better and gauged how the refs were calling the game. The fact that he got a weak tech for complaining after a bad call, he should have let someone else play enforcer. You are in the playoffs and every team has an agitator or 2, Clips prob have a few.

You're not even allowed to pump your fist all of a sudden. At the air. Not even at somebody just in the air.

:biggums:

I watched draymond green do that after about every damn play. Soon enough everybody is just going to be a robot with absolutely no extracurricular movement allowed of any type. Zero expression can be shown and perfect motion control is to be followed.

Well people saying the league is „soft“ like to act as if thats player based, and that that would mean they wouldnt cut it in prior era‘s.. this is officiating based!

Porzingis is not LeBron or Kawhi. He's a young guy playing in his very first playoff series. He was clearly not completely in control of his emotions on either tech. So he got tossed, and maybe next time there's a similar situation he'll exhibit a little more control.

More money. Players start realizing what’s on the line. They don’t want to muck it up on a random play and lose out on millions upon millions by getting a needless injury in the process. The attempt at keeping a good and marketable image for the league. Malice in the Palace. Rule changes that take away the importance of physical play or make it illegal. Superteams being more prevalent. Players aren’t trying to burn bridges in die hard rivalries, they are trying to politic their way to the next big superteam. Society in general. If a mic picks up you saying f.aggot or some other extreme shit talk there could be serious repercussions. I don’t think there’s any Gary Payton and Kevin Garnett style shit talk in the league anymore really. Those are the reasons I can think of off the top of my head.

Speaking of Lebron and ejections, Lebron has been ejected once his whole career—by the same ref who ejected porzingis. Fun fact.

Anyway all this stuff about the league getting ‘softer’ regarding officiating, this is all traced back to the malice in the palace. The NBA during that time was getting flack for becoming ghetto with injured players wearing baggy streetwear on the benches and players still being physical. After malice in the palace the NBA didn’t want to risk losing shareholders or rich white season ticket holders so they put in rules how non active players should dress at games and to limit physical altercations. But I agree even under that context the porzingis ejection was pure BS
