Imagine saying Kawhi is reliable. PG trying so hard to erase the Load Management, Kawhit narrative.

That's a steep uphill battle my friend.

Kawhi carrying a bunch of followers hahahha

George Pippen has accepted his robin role and that dramatically increases clippers title chance.

He can say whatever after the game. He took more shots than Kawhi in the game which is crazy.

and here we have another example of being vocal on the defensive end off the court, in comparison to being vocal while on the court ala the 0 FMVP Kevin Garnett

He took 22 shots and had a 30% usage. This isn't a second option workload. It is one game so let's see what happens but it is notable he had this volume when he was cold for much of the game. As a comparison, he averaged 20 shots in the playoffs last year in OKC and the same in 18'. From 13'-17' in IND he averaged 16.

Harrell is usually 3rd option scorer though and looked like he forgot how to play basketball. So George had to take the 1b role.

Yup. I wonder if George has accepted the second option role or if he thinks he is equal to Kawhi. It is one game but he did take a 24 foot three with 42 seconds left and the outcome in doubt. It went in to seal the win but is that the optimal shot for the team in that situation?

Well he isn't lying. Kawhi and George is like MJ and Pippen.

Kawhi/George scored 90% of clippers points in 4th quarter, so in this case I'm ok with it. Generally speaking, kawhi needs to be taking the last shots. Hopefully it will not take a doofus late second shot that misses for George to learn this. I think George has accepted his role as 2nd fiddle, he just took more shots game 1 because Harrell is worthless for the time being.

Exactly, epic duo. I'm hoping they stay together the rest of their careers as long as George is on board. Why leave your home city if you win a ring.

Probably but it is something to keep an eye on.

What a great shot by George.

In Pippen's 17 years, did he ever hit an iso game-winner or even an iso big shot at all?

In 17 years?

certainly zero in 17 playoffs.. It was aaaalll on MJ.. that's why MJ has the goat clutch rep - not for game-winners necessarily - for big shots THROUGOUT a game.. Whereas Pippen was just a "flow" guy - getting the unimportant points and a lot of transition, aka stuff that isn't available in the playoffs or tight halfcourt sets in general (actual defense)

:lol at this nut 1-9ball bringing his BS into unrelated threads.

Gallo putting up PG numbers on offense tonight (like PG put up Gallo numbers in the Rivers offense). The key to the George trade paying off will be defense. We didn't see it last night. Nearly every perimeter star feasts against PG defenses (DeRozan, Wade are probably the only exceptions) and Luka looks like he will continue that career long trend.

5 points for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Looks like a scrub ass player, him instead of PG13 would of been a nightmare. I know PG is at least an upgrade over this guy in a big playoff game.

Gallo looks better tonight than PG did last night. It was a 2-for-1 deal. George has to justify Gallo/SGA in the near term, plus the draft pick costs down the road.

If you need 25 points you could get that from Gallo. PG is supposed to be an elite player on the defensive side as well (along with a better playmaker than Gallo, albeit a less efficient scorer than Gallo). It is one game but I was surprised to look up the numbers of perimeter stars against PG defenses--Luka going off would be consistent with that trend. It doesn't comport with his reputation as a defender.

If Kawhi actually had a Pippen Luka would have been shutdown and they would have won by 20pts

Yup. PG didn't even take on the challenge. He guarded Luka on only a small percentage of possessions.

The PG trade made sense in theory--superstars win rings because of they ceiling they can access--but there is a chance it backfires and Gallo/SGA/draft picks>having PG alone. Gallo is similar to him (not equal of course, though) offensively so for PG to pay off he has to do it on the defensive end. Just look at recent years. Lillard, Mitchell went off against OKC and now Luka is doing it. We don't even have to go back to his Indiana days (LeBron, Carmelo, etc.).
