They’re very similar as players in a variety of ways honestly. Gilbert was a massive head case however.

And even then, Gil at that point was one of the best scorers I’ve ever seen. He needed less screens, and was more explosive off the dribble with his insane quickness than even current Damian Lillard is or does.

And they had roughly the same range, and same shooting ability. Even if you take both of their totals in this game at face value, it was Gilbert arenas best game ever, and he basically only outscored Kobe by 15 points ... and the dude dropped 60.

Gilbert is the slacker version of Dame. Very similar playstyles and peak performance. Dame will just have a 3x longer peak.

Those Wizards teams were pretty fun to watch based on Gil and Jamison being really skilled, but they played no D.
