Prob because theyre usually not guarding him.

If hes being guarded by someone smaller, he has a better chance of a rebounding advantage everytime a rebound bounces in his direction.

Two players who are the same length would be more likely to have a 50/50 split of the rebounds in their direction, no? If youre 6’10 and guarding a 6’10 youre likely to get 9 of 18 rebounds in your direction.

If youre 6’7 guarding 6’3, youre likely to get 10, 11, 12 of the 18.

Try actually looking at each rebound and tell me how many he gets all by himself.. you might be surprised by how much that happens.

He always seems to be at the right place at the right time. Also a important note is that most of the team don't go for the rebound, but starts running up and he chases the rebound. The reason for this is tempo. You want to have your pointguard with the ball right away. There is no reason for the big guy to rebound the ball and then pass it to the pointguard. Just run up and you might get a easy basket. With that said, Westbrook is much worse on the padding.

A lot of it is the Westbrook effect, where the team wants Luka to get the rebound to start the transition offense. He's so good with the hit ahead pass.

I would also like to add that I don't think Donic is chasing the triple-doubles because he does not hold the ball just to wait for the perfect moment so he knows he will get the assist. Something you saw with Iverson and sometimes with Rajon Rondo.

Well this is partially why. Its also the era. Centers and fowards are way more spread put because of the era so theres not as many rebounds under the rim.
