It's going to happen. Might take 20 years, but it will get there.

What are we going to do with these people?

That's... a lot of people. It's most of you, lol.

I do wonder...

Because of autonomous technology?

Yes sir!

Don't call out sick, don't need many if any breaks, work around the clock, don't bitch and moan, hyper efficient, exponentially cheaper.

Service sector jobs like waiters/waitresses/cooks, retail workers, etc... will all be wiped out. The auto repair/maintenance sector is going to get wiped out by electric vehicles and so will dealerships.

As much as I am not a fan of redistributing wealth, I'm not sure humanity has a choice lest their not be widespread global death. Some type of UBI will have to be implemented. Now, as far as how you implement that specifically without upsetting the balance, I don't know.

It's just simply too inhumane to let everyone die off like that, imo.

I always hear the argument that new jobs will be created as a result of these new technologies, and that's undoubtedly true, but they will be far fewer than those that they replace.

Well, this is all assuming that the economy and society doesn't collapse first, which, hey...

All this means is that big business will change. Small businesses will still be around. If I own a bakery or a jewelry store, I'm not going to pay for a robot to bake cookies or sell jewelry.

The current riots are a CONSERVATIVE window into what will happen with UBI.

The amount of lower tier humans running the streets beating and raping with all expenses paid will be something out of a movie.

People are born to work, compete, survive. Especially young men at the peak of their testosterone levels. Their energy has to be harnessed and directed toward some kind of responsibility and structured social mobility or this is what you get.

Look how many junkies and bums are on EVERY corner in every major city now thanks to the welfare system that was already in place. Then you add ‘Pandemic‘ Unemployment and you get straight up month long riots.

Young adults are not built for free time. Particularly the ones with lesser impulse control. And there are a LOT of those.

It’s not gonna be pretty breh.

Yes indeed. Idle hands are the Devil's workshop.

It wasn't that long ago we had Conscription in the United States. And currently, there are 26 countries that require compulsory service. This, to me, solves that idle hands problem here in the States.

I agree the US would be well served to have at least a year of required military service for kids out of high school. Work some of the pansies into shape and create a more unified bond among each generation. Also citizens with a better understanding of basic military/defense culture will probably have a better perspective on America’s foreign policy decisions.

But ofc... it’s doubtful we’ll see it any time soon.

Because of Liberals. :lol

If certain Liberal politicians are crying for the defunding or outright elimination of police, what's to stop them from feeling the same way about our military??

The way people live will have to change. Some sort of paradigm shift back to simpler times or a leap into technocratic socialism.

Yeah I agree every kid should be indoctrinated and initiated into the globalist big government cult. Public school doesn’t do enough.

What about the fact that much of our social services encourage poor behaviors, such as being unemployed, having kids of out wedlock, and staying poor?

Wouldn't replacing this system with UBI be a better option?

It sounds like a bad idea. Evidence suggests it would be another bloated gov't indoctrination program where the people administrating it get rich. Though... it may be better than the trillion-dollar college indoctrination program we have going now.

I think those are natural human behaviors. I think improving them is what requires teaching/encouragement. A lot of people learn it in the workforce, especially if they come from an environment where it wasnt taught at home.

Guaranteed income doesnt seem like it’s gonna encourage discipline, education, productivity etc from anyone. Feels like quite the opposite.

Im not saying it has to be political. But kids should learn the basics in defending themselves and their country, and also how to take a boot up the ass once in a while.

Would be a much more productive 6-12 months IMO than 4 years spent at SJWU.

UBI and since people has a lot more free time, the need for entertainment would be greatly increased. Content creators would increase significantly, so would gamers and sport athletes at all levels. With a much more efficient workforce, things will cost much cheaper, enabling people to still afford a middle class life.

That's not happening in case you haven't been paying attention.

- We have less two-parent households across all demographics than ever before.

- We are in worse health than ever before.

- We are less religious than ever before.

And if some people spend all their UBI at the beginning of the month on gambling and alcohol or whatever else, which will happen 100%, and suddenly cant afford food or shelter? What happens to them?

FourthTenor
08-22-2020, 04:26 PM
it can be distributed weekly like unemployment...:ohwell:

What does this have to do with how people spend it?

FourthTenor
08-22-2020, 04:33 PM
you put "at the beginning of the month"

indicating they'd be without money for the rest of the month.

distributing it weekly encourages more responsible spending. of course it doesn't curb it completely.

but anyhow, i feel like i should only have this conversation with an employed individual. you're leeching off the same welfare you're complaining about.

Youre not employed Alan. You printed up a bunch of business cards so you could tell ISH you own a company.

Youve been asking ISH how to do everything from tie your shoes to ask out a girl for 10 years. Nobody believes youre a businessman.

Anyway, I never took a dollar from the govt until they literally prevented me from freelancing by law :lol Then I was like screw it, gimme that cheese. Ill save it and bounce!

Hope this interaction was fulfilling for you.

Wouldn't replacing our system with UBI be a better option?

During the CARES Act we gave ~$3900/month* for people to be unemployed, but essential workers got absolutely ****ed.

If our welfare state will continue to expand, why not make it universal so everyone gets a check?

I dunno, maybe.

Tbh Im not even gonna worry about any of it at this point. Ive spent too much time worrying about things 95% of people cant be bothered to pay attention to. Ill just make the most of whatever situation we got and try to see what’s coming before the shlubs do, so at least I can protect myself.

As long as Leo and his celeb pals can jet out to his new orgy island, it will all be okay. We just need to drive less. We need to eat less meat. We need less cow farts. Anything so long as Leo Dicaprio and the Dalai Lama can privately bang ho's on Dicaprio island.
