I've been following the nba since the Shaq-Penny Magic made the finals. But the Nba broke the golden rule dont get political, they were the first league to shut it down after the Crown virus, now they wear the blm gear and face masks on the sidelines even though, they guard each other on the court and supposedly they are already dont let anyone contaminated into the bubble.
The league already was swimming upstream by the recent no defense 3-ball and no in person crowd reaction but to see the NBA unite with China and the liberal media is too much to overlook.

Yes, the NBA has become quite unwatchable.
A few reasons:
1. Superteams - Lack of competition
2. Game is geared towards scoring now with change in defensive rules. Defense means nothing to the NBA now.
3. Politics of course. How can you watch any sports game nowadays without being bombarded by someone else's opinion??

Change must happen!! Black lives matter!!
Ok, how about only the bitch ass blackboys can purchase league pass and attend games then..
These idiots want to alienate the paying white customers?
Good luck, might want to ask Gillette how that worked out for them:oldlol:

This
Just to add to your first point, no one wants rivalries anymore, all the best players want to join up instead of like how they did back in the day where the best players wanted to beat each other. Only when a player was past his prime would he look to join other stars but these young cats today are doing it in the prime of their careers :facepalm
LeFraud began this shit trend, and it has only gotten worse.

I have barely watched any basketball this playoffs, I'm a bigger hockey fan anyways. I am a huge Lakers fan, I am a big AD fan and am appreciative to have LeBron's talent in the purple and gold but he's just become damn near unbearably annoying. Add in the corporate support of crappy hostile race-baiting organizations.
Dame D.O.L.L.A. is my dude so it's weird but I'm cheering for him inside even when he cooks the Lakers tbh.

Pretty much, I mostly stopped back in the early 2000’s with the rigged Kings-Lakers series and then pretty much for good watching the Heat-Dallas finals being rigged. Just isn’t worth hours of my time anymore, or my money.
I do follow certain players/stars as I find them to be inspirational and I like to observe/learn about successful people.

Watching basketball has always been lightweight annoying with the idiot commentary and the same bullshit commercials played over and over every break.

I haven't watched a complete NBA game since June 2019. Last season I was fully engaged was 2016 (watched every single Warriors game during the 2014-2015 & 2015-2016 seasons).
I've watched about 5 minutes of the BLM Summer League Exhibition.
Still a basketball fan, just not NBA at the moment.

The two amigos. You're actually making the case that because people don't like today's NBA, that we shouldn't post on an NBA forum. How dumb can you two be?
This is the Off the Court Lounge by the way where a myriad of topics other than basketball are talked about. Duh.
The NBA doesn’t agree with my politics either (they are guilty of a bunch of dumb virtue signaling without proposing actual solutions) but I love basketball so I’m still gonna watch. Y’all are soft.

I'm still trying to wean myself off the NBA but it's hard. I love basketball. But next year I'm not renewing my NBA League Pass. I'm too busy anyways to take advantage of it. Most nights I just watch the NBA highlights on YT when I get home. My family, especially my mom, love the NBA and I'm always buying official NBA licensed merchandise every year for birthdays and Christmas. That's coming to a stop. I love the NBA but it's racism and politics have finally become too big to ignore. Same goes with the NFL.
OP is a nets fan who's injured team is in the process of getting swept.
guaranteed he's an NBA fan next year when kd returns and starts shitting on the league. :oldlol:

I'm trying to get BACK into it. As a Mavs fan I was a massive NBA fan but it was hard to maintain enthusiasm after the epic Mavs - Heat Finals 2011. Nothing can top that year for me, it's impossible. Probably some youngsters in here who don't know that the Mavs also won the 2006 Finals... that series was rigged. Ask Tim Donaghy he's written a book on it.
Anyway coming off that season, coupled with starting a family, was hard to invest into the NBA after that, so basically just watched playoff games when the Mavs made it and that's it.
But now this Luka kid on the team!? I'm trying to get back into the NBA like I used to be... invest fully in the Luka era.
This season is weird af, for the obvious reasons, hard to jump back into it when it's cut in half. The BLM stuff, I haven't even thought about it since the restart of the season. I just view it as NBA trying to make extra $$$...trying to appeal to the masses.
Another issue giving me fits is that I cut my cable... full time steamer. I still haven't figured out the best way to stream live sports. I tried HULU Live for NFL, that sucks, so I need something else, will probably try YouTube TV. Last night I just streamed the game on my PC in my office... that was fckin awful, I can't watch games that way, need a couch and big screen and some elbow room to yell and throw fits.

The game of basketball's pretty garbage too.
as far as entertainment goes the NBA product is going to be #1 for a while.
because of the salaries it will always attract the best athletes in the world and now the game is international and all of the political liberal stuff they do is to be inclusive, so I get it - its good for the bottom line and quite frankly it makes sense for them and for the fans.
and as much as we complain about reffing, and lottery balls, and stern and silver - its still competitively fair and Im sure all of the teams owners and management agree -hard to argue when you have small market teams like san antonio dominating and large markets like new york struggling. that just doesnt make sense if it was "durr rigged like wrestling"
even if you disagree with the politics you cant deny the product. I love lebron but he doesnt know what he is talking about in many instances - I'm not going to stop rooting for him because he pisses off hong kong with his shitty politics. FYI I'll take hong kong's side over china any day of the week and so would anyone who is even remotely informed and not a member of the CCP.
sorry but I dont look to athletes for my worldview - the NBA is king and that won't change anytime soon. :oldlol:

If I liked led zeppelin and they started playing emo screamo, it wouldnt be soft to stop listening to them. It would be... normal.
Im not like in a huff about it, they can do their league however they wanna do it. Just doesnt appeal to me much. No biggie.

I hope their ratings tank

I think they got the words plastered on the court floor too. So every time the camera pans in the middle of the court, you can usually catch the words "Black Lives Matter." It all feels insanely forced.

I was shocked to learn that the Clippers-Lakers game was destroyed by both Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity in ratings. That seems unbelievable. I've never watched a Tucker Carlson segment and it's been probably 3 or more years since I've watched a Hannity segment, I can't stand that guy.

Yeah I'm empathetic towards black ppl who have been treated unfairly and everything but yeah, it's overkill. Not to mention, it's a very unwise business decision which really perplexes me considering the main goal of pro sports leagues

I think it's a little more complex here. I'm personally of the opinion that it may have gone too far; but at the same time, the NBA wouldn't be much without its players either who are of the vast majority black. A business has to keep its employees happy too and the NBA wouldn't be much without its players. It's a balancing act.
But in the end, it doesn't really bother me when I see it in sports because it is all aesthetics. Images on the field (or on jerseys) don't actually affect the game when it is being played, nor does someone who is kneeling before the game. With that perspective, I think fans also take it too far when it comes to their criticism.
